A squid and a flounder

Lil' Biscuit Sr (Phillip my 14 year old) and I took Squid and his lovely Missus Andrea for a boat ride and a little flounder fishing this afternoon. Great start with buffalo shrimp burgers & sweet tea at Airlie grill, Wrightsville Beach, NC.

Run here and there dodging rain showers until we finally settled on a little bite at the inlet. 2 shorts and 2 keepers in one hour and that's all the thunderstorms would allow us to take today.

Squid with today's best fish

Today we were messin'. Tomorrow we'll be serious fishin'

Thanks again, Nick! We had a blast eventhough I think I'm still wet! Heck of a rainstorm that was. Can't wait to get out there tomorrow and put the hurting on those "pet fish" y'all have! Here's another picture of the flatties----hopefully nobody will figure out the "secret spot" from the background.

no safe zone

used to be the offshore bottom dwellers would shake in their shoes when Biscuit fired the engine, now the flounder are so scared they are laying flat on the bottom. There is no where to hide, purdy flatties.

Nice catch Nick and gang. From "grouper digging" to "flounder pounder", no fish is safe from the Sea Biscuit! You guys deserved it if you fished through those thunderstorms we had today! Is the ocean still "salty" or did the rain today turn it into a fresh water pond?

A nice relaxing outing close to shore looking for that doormat!
Wish I could be around...
Those will make some nice filets in the pan.

Those WERE very nice in the pan last night. A little olive oil, salt, dusting of flour and a couple of cloves of garlic frying along! Bryan (Squid) was gracious to let us have the fish yesterday. As you know "no good deed goes unrewarded" so check out what Squid landed today!

Scratched the offshore trip, since the north wind was making it a little choppy. Hung out at the beach fishing for toads and lizards. Caught them hard! Had a nice early lunch and a swim. Gorgeous day

Pictured below is the Squidress Andrea with one of today's more colorful head-slappers

Cheers,

Can't thank you enough, Nick for another awesome day on the ocean. Hate the weather didn't work out for a grouper run, but there are MANY more days. Not worth taking a beating over.

Guys, we all know that Nick can flat lay the hammer to the groupers.....BUT you should see him ripping the lips of those toads! I may have lucked up and caught the biggest flounder of the day, but I cannot compete with the skill and professional angling ability it takes for the toads. School was in session today for Toad Fishing 101!

It was a great pleasure spending another day fishing with you and "Little Biscuit Sr.". Flounder fillets are going in the frying pan here in a few and along with a few cold beers, it's sure to be a great night!

We have revenge for Mother Nature one day soon when I get back from ICAST.
