    3 20 07 Report
Fished the Rise today since all the reports on the BR where slow fishing on Monday. Found a strong current and temp break-68-70 and some birds at 35 fathoms. Worked it for an hour and moved to the Rise. Caught a nice 35# YFT on a spreader bar, to our surprize. Proceed to put more bars out and work the area. An hour later about we nailed the 2nd yft .8 miles from the 1st. This was again around the 450 line 40 to 80 fathoms. Temp was 72 degrees. Another boat found a weedline at the 390 line 150 fats so we ran down there. Very nice w-line but we couldn't get it to produce.Nice day on the water! Crew was Cap Don, Bobby U, Mike D, Justin B, and Steve B.

Sounds like a good day to me on a slow pick. I wouldn't be surprised about spreaderbars down their. My buddy on the justified from Ocean City goes down their every year and waxes em. He rarely has less then 3 bars out.

Great work Fred .. glad to see the bars got some action. I fished down that way 10 days ago and the bars caught the majority of the the 12 tuna we caught. I dont agree with the local folklore that bars do not work in southerm waters. Case in point , the yellowfin I caught down there 10 days ago were loaded with squid. What better way to target these fish than to match the hatch ? I always have 4 bars in the water when trolling , and those 4 bars will normally outfish the other 7 lures in my spread. They increase the visibilty of your spread by a tremendous margin and I think once you get them right, the boats using them will consistently outfish the boats not using them ..

    Very nice report.

I dont see why not spreaders wouldnt work. It seemed to me that all the NC guys are 100% about witch/meat thing. Thats all good but ill bet that if a capp knows how to fish them right plastics could be dangerous down there.
