    SPREADER BAR QUESTION

I'M SURE THIS HAS BEEN DISCUSSED BEFORE BUT, WHAT IS YALL'S RECOMMENDATION FOR LEADER LENGTH BETWEEN THE LAST TEASER ON THE SPREADER BAR TO THE HOOK BAIT. I CRIMP A SNAP SWIVEL IN THE LAST TEASER SO I CAN CHANGE HOOK BAITS IF NEEDED.

GOING OUT OF OREGON INLET OVER THE WEEKEND OF THE 4TH. ANYBODY ELSE?

I usually like mine about 14 to 16 inches no more it seems if I drop it back anymore I get alot of bites on the next to last squid and any closer and I get bites on the arms.

I would use different lengths.. i actually use about 14 like tuna killer said sometimes a little longer but i usually like to put a islander with a hoo behind it!! out of OI it seems mostly tuna witches and hoos are the ticket down there!!

try out different ones! i got or used to have an entire box full of just stinger rigs!! make up a good amount of different ones so you can just switch em right out!

good luck man! hope you slay em up!!

HOOK EM AND COOK EM!! send some TUNA up this way!!

    anthony,

do you find that the 30-36 allows you more room to handle the fish? do you do it for a specific reason? i guess it seems you have a good idea there!!

i run the braid marauders underneath my squid bars and they LOVE IT!! guess it would be the same.. injured prey a few feet behind the school!!

I run a witch/ballyhoo behind our bars. The leader with the hooked bait is 6'. I like the hooked bait back a little ways and to sink a little behind the bar to intice a strike. Seems to work pretty good out of OI. Last trip 90% of the tuna we caught were on the two spreader bars running about 60ft off the corners. I will see if I can dig up the video. Pink and white 15 squid bars with a blue/crystal seawitch and med hoo were the hot colors. Mark

Blue and white Islander would be my second choice as a trailer . I like something that looks a little different than the squid and will drop a little in the water column behind the spreader bar...Mark

Well remember your fishing diffrent waters,

Ive killed enough tuna on Green Machines to know they sure work up here. Dont get me wrong, i love the meat, and love pulling witches, but personlly i havent had the same results up here as down south and the plastic almost always outfished the witch...

    Just my 2Cents.

    pretty basic question...

I had a buddy give me a spreader bar. This thing is ancient.

I rerigged with shell squids and it looks pretty nice in the water. My question is, is the spreader bar supposed to be above water causing a stir or right under the water????
