Ok guys, got my 5 TLD 25's single speed in today. Now my question is what lb test to spool them with and what brand? I will be fishing out of MHC for mahi, kings, tuna, wahoo and anything else that goes on the grill. Fishing from a cc boat. I have heard both Momoi Diamond in 30 and 40 lb test. Should i go with 30 or 40? Also any other brands to look for or is Momoi Diamond one of the best? THanks

The momoi diamond is good stuff, but on my 25's I prefer 30 pound sufix.
I am sure someone here knows about diameters and breaking strength, but I have never had a problem with the sufix, and have been using it exclusively since 97 or 98. Tough, and the 30 breaks at 40 something.

It is the plain old sufix, I want to say Superior, or spreme or something like that. The clear or the high vis. In your application, I would think the clear.
Frank , is there a downside to using the hi vis? Since fishing from a cc its easier to see my lines using a brighter color like the yellow but would that interfere with the bites?

If you are going to use the hi vis, I would recommend a long wind on leader in clear or fluoro. When I fished out of Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach I had hi vis on my live bait and trolling rods, but had 30 foot of flouro wind on. My TLD's have hi vis on them up here in OC and when I am in Mexico, and there isn't a problem with bites, but again, 30 foot of clear leader.
Jay, I run 40lb clear on my 25's. I like the clear because then you don't have to run the extra long leaders and you don't have to run the wind ons, which can get expensive if you go with flouro. Fishing out of a 21cc here in NC you are likely to get into a bunch of Kings or little Dolphin, especially in the summer, which can be a real hassle if you are fishing all wind ons. I think you will be satisfied whichever way you go, green or clear. Those 25's are some great reels.
At the risk of being ostracised by the Deep and his legion of spectra haters, I recommend 65 or 80 lb hi vis power pro, with clear 40 lb mono topshot. The topshot does not have to be too long. If you like long wind ons, you can go from spectra to leader. If you do, watch the hook sets (no Bill Dancin') and rod pumping! If using snaps and 10 foot leaders, a 50 yard mono topshot is enough.
I will go out on a limb a little further by stating my belief that spectra type lines will soon be the norm even in trolling applications.
