Sonar range meeting MHC WED. night

This Wednesday night at the Crystal Coast Civic Center the Navy is going to hear public comment once again about the sonar range that they are wanting to put off the Crystal coast. This is not a done deal that they are not going to put this sonar range off our coast. Even though it looks like Florida might get the range, they can still put this range right here. We have been over all the negative effects that this range will have on the fishing community and the lively hoods of many of the coastal businesses and residents. The meet and greet is around 6 pm and the public comment period is from 8-10 pm. Whether you wish to make a comment or not, we need the support and numbers of people that oppose this sonar range to show up at the meeting.

do the fish hear the sonar, and if so, does that deter or attract them to the area ????

Absolutely Tim, just as you and I here it under water. Some of what they use can actually kill Dolphins and Whales or disorient them to where they will beach them selves and die... I theorize that it will effect there nervous system by coming through their lateral line as fish can feel very faint impulses through the lines...what does a fish hit in the dark...a push of water...
When I anchor Grouper fishing, as soon as I get set, I like to turn the fish finder off so not ping the fish...
