You guys stay safe... it is looking pretty shitty from what some of my friends are saying.
How are you guys and the ship holding up?
Last night had to be bumpy as hell!
Position?
Good luck
we are 3.5nm abeam of the Thunderhorse platform. if you google Thunderhorse platform, you will see pictures from katrina or rita (cant remember which). that was the rig that took a beating and was pictured layin on its side.
seas have calmed down out here over the nite, still running in the neighborhood of 20ft though. from about 6pm last nite till almost 2am we had winds of 55-60kts with gusts up to 70kts.
we decided against sending our pictures in to the weather channel, figured it would be in bad taste given it happened around the time of the MOB on the tanker to our south. apparently though, a picture from my ship showed up on the weather channel last nite, and the management out here is now hunting down the culprit. my name was apparently thrown into the ring on that one, not cool.
Glad to hear it is laying down for you. Can't be to many places to hide from management on the rig
, good luck to who ever sent the picture. Stay safe.

Excellent to hear!
There is a freighter out there somewhere, I think southeast of you disabled
CG is making all 22 crew ride it out
Too dangerous for a rescue
I was watching the WC last night, didn't see it
I will surf around their website a little
Stay safe man!
dude, if you see any of the pictures that i posted on here please let me know.
i have heard of a few other things happening out in the gulf rite now that no one knows about, but this isnt the place to discuss that now.
Here is that stranded freighter's location according to the CNN website:
The 584-foot Cyprus-flagged freighter, the Antalina, was trying to beat the storm heading south from Port Arthur, Texas, when it lost power about 90 miles south of Galveston, Coast Guard Capt. Bill Diehl said.
"The best-case scenario is that Hurricane Ike pushes this freighter up into shallow water where they can drop anchor and ride out the storm," Coast Guard Petty Officer Thomas Blue said.
Blue said officials are still weighing their options, but "we're getting to the point where the wind gusts are too high to launch our helicopter."

There is a spot on their front page to submit photos
Over on the right side
1st 5 or so pages are from yesterday
I went through all the stuff posted yesterday and today, didn't see anything you posted here or even taken from a ship
Only pic's that would be even similiar were taken from a rig
Coords listed as 22d 52 min N, 86d 39min W
Didn't mean to bring up the ship thing
I just heard it on the news at lunch
Sorry
