    Something Different

Ok, usually I like to go offshore to fish. Over the 4th weekend I decided to stay away from the other boats and found I nice little quiet place up one of the creeks near MHC. I have to say I had a great time. I saw maybe a handful of boats each day and serenity was the primary objective and the fish were secondary. This is unusual for me. Friday I set anchor and within an hour had caught 6 real nice specs. Decided to head back to the docks by noon and avoid as many people as possible.

Saturday I decided to return to the same spot knowing full well that the trout bite would not be back again in the same place right? and surely someone would have seen me with the light tackle rod bent double on the big trout and taken my spot right? Wrong, I put the hurt on them again for the second day. Most of the trout were in the 2-4 pound range. Not as exciting as dropping back to a billfish, but had a great time with no stress.

Looks like Beacon's Reach as the cleaning station. Got pretty familiar with a cleaning table there last week cleaning bottom fish!!!! Nice job on da trouts.

Spent the weekend with my family along with some friends at Cedar Island. Cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner on the beach with the Weber, sitting on the tailgate with a few icy cold pork chops and a great time playing in the sound with the kids. After attending the funeral of a life long friend my age on last Tues. there was certainly something special about spending that quality time with my family and friends. Didn't even drag the boat or a single fishing rod with me and still had a absolute blast!!! Mark

    Mark,

I was at Beacon's Reach...very observant. We have had a place there since 1987. Sorry for your loss, I know that time with family is always worth while. I think I like where this thread is going. Let's here from everyone who did something a little different this past weekend.

Nice job on the fish Lee. I was in the mts checking out the newly stocked elk at Catalouchee, counting and observing a blue million turkeys and grouse with babies in tow, riding horses, mt biking and just plain relaxing.
