Nice Hog. I swear, I hear its a fluke to catch them, I sure haven't.. but Biscuit seems to nab one every few months.
I have a question... what kind of jig is that in the first pic? It looks like a mangled piece of white gum. Is it just a a bad angle?
Also what is the black reel in the first pic? (I know I know... I am always trying to figure out how biscuit and crew does it!)
That is a bluewater Candy Roscoe Jig. They were overwelmingly the top producer of the day for us. They are a relatively heavy jig that was able to get to the bottom where the cobias were. If it took a while to get to the bottom then we would get nailed by the aj's. Congrats to Jody for coming up with a unique jig that is so succcessful
And the black reel is Matt's Fin-Nor offshore conventional star drag. It's been very good to Matt and very bad to many fishes.
Don't worry though Jared, all other reels on the boat were saltigas, true to my preferences.
