    Some questions for the Pros

    Hi members of “His Wolrd”
I just want to ask some question.
I just got 5 mold craft squids (6inch, pearl) I want to rig a daisy chain. Which is the distance between squids? Which lure is recommended to use at the end? Which is the distance between the last squid and the lure? Bullet head or Jet?
The other question is about Mullet rigging. Can I use the pin rig on mullet? Any suggestions?
Thanks, hope you can help me

    Mrs. Capt-D, Liam and Avery!
I would rig them 12"-15" apart since they are the 6" Put the first two on droppers so the skip across the surface more. I assume your pulling them from a teaser reel? in the last sguid crip a swivel so you can put on a bait/lure of choice.

As far as lure on the end having the swivel will allow you to run another squid, a bridled hookless ballyhoo behind an islander or a chugging type lure depending on sea conditions and the type of attention your looking for.

As far as the mullet go they are VERY easy to rig. Are you talking dredge?

    Hope this helps!

there are several ways you can do..

like the captain said you can do some dropper loops.. but if you looking to do inline i usually do anywhere between 10-14 inches and that is from the bottom of the skirt to the top of the next squid..

if you plan on using the same lure on the back end you can crimp it to the end but like said above you can add a nice ball bearing snap swivel on the bottom and it will be hiddin inside the last squids head/body/skirt so it wount be to visible nor should it matter.

if you are using them for trolling with a bait i would def use them inline.. they will run the best.. if just a teaser with no hooks run the dropper style rigging.. it will slap all over and u will be very happy with that...

as far as mullet goes.. you can pin rig them.. if you are looking to pull them on a dredge you can pin them with some stuff from www.tournamentcable.com he has some really easy rigs with the chin weights.

if you want to do it yourself i would get a nice 2 ounce chin weight.. get your mono and a ice pick.. you want to punch a hole from between the eyes on the top of the head thru the bottom of the mullets lower jaw area. you will run the mono thru the weight.. up the hole.. out of the top of the head and around back up to the crimp and crimp it down tight.. this is for a straight dredge bait.. then take some rigging floss and make sure you floss the gills shut nice and tight.. you want it to look like this.. you are also going to want to split tail the mullet!

if your going to be using hook baits in the mullet i would do it the same way but just run the hook down the bait like you are goign to be riggina ballyhoo almost the same idea.. add the mono as stated above and run it thru the eye of the hook inside the gill /mouth area and up thru the top of the head and back to the crimp again!!
it should look like this after you go ahead and floss the gills shut.

    if you are going to

    Jp77,
i prefer to rig my squids inline and a squid length apart then puttin my chugger head or islander with a hoo on it about 18in from the last squid. but the main thing u need to consider in the length of the whole chain is to make sure you can get it all the way out of the water when you do raise somthing on it.

Could not agree any more. Choclate thunder is right. Droppers tangle easily on a windy day and are just a pain.

Yes Marty, Fin still ownes the Qualifier(s). He sold the 60 last year, we are on Paul Mann hull number one now, formerly the Madd Hatter. Paul has started the new 56 and hopefully will be done this time next year. He is also building a new england boat to play around with in Hatteras on days off. Fin has tons of insight and has a lot of great ideas fishing and boating. He has left Hatteras and we fish out of Oregon Inlet, and will be leaving for Mexico in a couple of weeks.
