Some Day's It Just Doesn't Pay To Get Out Of Bed!!!,

Yesterday was one of those day's. Figured that after a summer "fishless", that I would try to make at least one trip to catch a tuna on my 25 footer. I've not had the boat out from under the shelter since buying the "WildCard" the first week of May. Had the normal full day and half the night of preperation, you know the usual stuff. Was planing on heading out of OI, but a last minute change of plan's put me out of Hatteras.

Back the boat into the ramp at around 4:00 AM. Let me re-phrase, backed the boat OFF the ramp at 4:00. I later found the hole to be approx 5 feet deep. So what to do??? I got this 4X4 Ford Diesel for a reason, so let's lock in the hub's and put it in 4Xlow. Wrong move!!!! After the snatching and jerking that took place, well let's say that the trailer may be totalled. After parking the truck and the now useless chunk of iron behind it, I cranked to boat up to head out.

Seem's that the STBD trim tab that worked yesterday evening, no longer work's. I know it worked yesterday, because I had to replace one of my now dead battery's. Everything worked yesterday afternoon!!! So off we staem across the Sound and up off Diamond Shoal's Light, with the bow stuck up higher than I would like, making a rougher ride than normal. So we start fishing with sore back's and neck's, what a way to wake up. We start fishing around a couple of the Charter Fleet boat's, they were picking a few fish. One of the boat's was "Bite Me" and Capt Jay was more than willing to help put us on a few fish, thank's Jay. Had a few hesitant hit's but no fish in the box for alot longer than I'd like to admit.

Later in the morning we got a couple small dolphin. Moved into some shallower water and had a really nice Wahoo, one that really fooled me on the weight at the scales. When the fish hit the deck, I thought 70lb's, if it was an ounce. Nope, he lost 20 lb's between the deck and the scales. The guy that caught it was still very happy with his citation fish, but boy did that fish fool me. Caught a descent yellowfin in just abit closer.

Started in earlier because of the trailer situation. About 20 mile's off the beach, the port engine starts shaking. I'm thinking, this is a fine place for a plug to foul. Took it out of gear, no shake??? Lifted the engine up and we nowhave a 3 blade prop instead of the 4 blade prop we came out with. Never hit a thing, just threw the blade. Now we're not making alot of time and I've got to get these guy's to my truck in Engelhard and run the boat across the Sound to a dock closer to home. Got in somewhere around 9:30/10:00 PM. Took a shower and just about fell asleep in the chair.

Got up this morning, go to wash my face and nothing but grey mud come's out of the faucet. Seem's that my well "caved in" last night, not a drop of water now, it's over. Look's like several thousand bucks to drill a new well and plumb it up. A guy's gotta have water to wash his boat and gear!!!

I guess it's just my turn AGAIN, who knew there was such a low number in the "kick me again" rotation!!! I thought I just had my turn!!! Ah well, I guess it's BOHICA time once more. Frank

    Frank,

Sounds like you had a badenough day so I won't even ask if you took pictures. Look on the bright side.......if you did not have bad luck you would not have any luck at all.

    Scattered Grass,

Funny thing you mentioned that. I called him and left a message, inviting him to go. Same reply as before, no reply. Maybe he knew the jig was up???? Frank
