I giant fished off of MHC by myself a few times and did well. I also was greedy and had no business doing it. Next time you want to go alone, remember Bruce Bartlett.
However, congrats on his fish, but it's not for me anymore.

That is an incredible story. Would I do it, NO, is he a knucklehead for doing it, maybe. But any way you cut it, that's a helluva feat and I feel sorry for those that don't have at least little bit of knucklehead in em.![]()

That's an awfully dangerous game....however, there's still lots of old salts up here that roll just like that..... it's not a game I want to play though....
This a thread for Fissues. He is a member on this site ..... mainy in the Northeast forum. He slays giants all summer long off Mass by himself. It is amazing to watch him work. You would think he would keep it simple but not for this guy. He puts out 11 or 12 lines all with a different spreader bar or bait and he knows his boat and his spread better than the back of his hand. He runs around th epit with a remote to his autopilot and steers the boat while he fights the fish
He has serious fissues![]()
I never met Bruce but my uncle fished with him many times...i had a chance to buy the old |"Flat Calm". I wonder where it is now, oh well nice fish helluva tale. Not for me though!
Nope I remember the day well, was in sight of Bruce Bartlett's boat when it happened, sad day indeed...![]()
It's not the best thing to do alone but when the opportunity/window is there then go. He was not the only boat out there and could of called for assistance at any time, he is lucky he didn't get hurt while trying to lift that fish over the side. My old man, at 55 got a solo fish in the boat, same exact boat, last October and took him a week to recover.
