So I decided to make a bait pen

So with the price of spot and the availability at the moment....plus the reports of guys with 100+ in their pens I figure what the hell lets give it a go. My fist thought was a floater but we have to nose in when we slip and room is tight....aside from otters and thieves I focused on a pen the I will hang a foot off the bottom of the floating dock at low tide.

The frame is 1/4" rod ....hand bent....try making 5 radius's like that....that match lol...you fabricators out there know what I mean...Then I epoxy powder coated it....its good to work for a company the powder coats re bar ...thats why the frame is green I wrapped it with heavy gauge plastic mesh and used ...no lie 250 plastic wire ties...I am heading down saturday at noon and am going to try to fill this thing up...I figure its good for 50 baits.

PS....that lock is ALL brass...even the ball, most Electricians will recognize that lock.

Ahhh the key to the $100 lock lol....the lock cost more than the material but we will see how well brass hold up to being submerged in the salt....if all else fails there is always the bolt cutter option

They don't hold up to good with the bolt cutter's, one of our trailers got broken into in Raleigh, NC, so we changed the locks from the ones like on your bait cage to the ones that supposed to be cut proof. That didn't slow the theifs down they just cut the clasp off the very next week. I just installed the Trailer Dog, we'll see how that holds up. That biat pen is great, I wasn't kidding about selling them.

I figure the lock will deter the bait thieves ...which unfortunately are very prevalent in south Jersey...aside from the mother f#**ing otters lol....I am just hoping the lock will handle being submerged in the salt.....either way there is not a pen just floating there screaming just steal me and the $200 worth of bait in me....they sell spot for $3.00 a piece up here.....give me $8 worth of blood worms, a few sabiki rigs and I will stuff that pen and if all goes well they will last until November.
