    Sniper Rod Question

I've got the complete Sniper Set Up system. Rod, 80 Tiagra, battleline, bridle, etc.

    Works Great and love it..

My question is if I wanted to remove the Bridle and use the planer with a release clip on it to fight the fish from a different rod,, whats the best way to set this up??

Should I use a release clip off the planer or rubberband inline? What location do you place this?

What have you guys found to work best for you?

    Appreciate your input..

    Ed

Run the planer off the sniper rod ,about 4-5 ft up the line put a crimp and a large bead on the line.Take your rod with bait on it let it out about 120' then attach a couple of rubber bands to the line. Now hook the rubber bands with a lrge paper clip(make sure they are the smooth ones)clip on to the planer line let line out till you hit the stop bead. When you get a hit just rerig and your back in action. The down side to this is it's more crap to deal with and most importantly you can't let the planer creep out to find the right depth.

FIN. Thanks. I hear ya. I like the idea of letting the planer creep.

Let me ask this: If your Sniper set up is correct ie. correct equip, bridle, planer, swivel rod holder.

How big a fish are guys reeling in with the Bridle system.

I guess I'm asking, is the Bridle system going to hold on a 150lb+ BFT, etc.?

My understanding is the Bridle sys was designed for Wahoo, Mahi, YFT. At what size fish am I better with it set up as a release system.

    Thanks
