I've never had the Tiagra's but sure have loved the versatitily and quality price ratio of a 50 TW Penn International. From Blue Marlin to Cuberas in my good ole days to Pulling planners here and being able to stop aBig AJ's on a wreck it covers it all. A little of a over kill for wahoo that is fast for a couple rushes and then will swim to the boat but you'll even be able to get a bluefin too with your type of boat.
All worth the investment but don't go cheap on the rods... MM |

25'S,30's and 50's are fine... Those Avets will work no problem load it with 80# BRAID. I caught a bunch last fall on my toriums. Ken

I'd go with tld 50s cheap and lightweight and you can catch just about anything on them

Excuse my ignorance, but...
Why the narrow 50?
And, if deploying the sniper setup, is a 50 enough? |

Thanks for all the input guys.
Sounds like my Avets (which are already loaded with 60lb. braid) and a few TLD 50LRS's will do me right for a while. Cant wait to give some realw orld feedback! Thanks again!

There's a huge difference between a TLD and a Tiagra. Save up the money somewhere else and get the tiagras. 50wrls for power and confidence. Never hurts to have a better reel with more line
![]() Why not get full Avets? You already have some smaller ones, a few 50's wouldn't look bad. I'm really not TLD friendly.. and I don't like to look at mixed reels on my boat ![]()

I've got both and have been very happy with both. I like the nice shiny gold look, but much prefer the weight of the TLD's. For wahoo, either will do just fine. JB |
