    Small Boat Tip

I have a small boat 24" center console and usually we target specific fish and fishing methods when we go out. Example - going to trol the canyon for tuna, dolphin and marlin. Yes we take way to much stuff to troll and probably couldn't get it all in the water if we changed baits every 5 minutes. But do you have all the bases covered if the species that isn't supposed to be there shows up.

Make up a bag that has some of everything - couple of shark rigs, chunking gear to get you by, casting lures for dolphin, bottom tackle for saving the trip on a wreck at the end of a day, fishbites and other artificials along with some trolling lures, bally rigs etc, you get the picture. Take this bag with you on every trip or better yet keep it on the boat. It just may save the day when you spot that finning mako and know you have the right rigs and leader to make the catch.

pellicot. . . you must have read my mind. I have that tip stored in my "waiting to be posted winter tips"

    GREAT GREAT TIP!!!

ALWAYS BE PREPARED, no matter what.

it only takes that one time to experience that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you dont have what you need and you are 60miles offshore.

    AGAIN, GREAT TIP!

    Well said......

I have a habit of bringing what many claim is "too much crap" and people often say "leave those rods, you won't need 'em" and all sorts of foolish things.....

If my rod holders aren't full of rods, I'm not properly prepared....if I have gear left behind in the garage, I'm not properly prepared LOL......

Summer season up here, you can do so much in one day.....tuna, sharks, bass/blues, fluke....you name it.....and if your day is going slow, and a buddy calls ya and tells ya the fluke are biting nice at the island (which you often pass by on your way in)....I want to be able to save the day by stopping for a few drifts

John, sorry about that. It's amazing what you need 50-60 miles from home. Now is the time to get those extras together and in 1 place so you don't forget em.

Hey I will see you at the Expo on Sat afternoon and will pick up the mock long sleeve from you. How much do they run as I want to make sure I save some for ya.

I hear ya, I actually have a file folder in my desk of copies of a "things to do" list, with check boxes next to everything. If I dont have that list I always forget somethin. Most of the stuff is left on the boat but out of habit still use the list.
