Question ????? On Small Boat Outriggers

I have this wild hair to put the AllTackle double teaser bracket (I have the 114H reels & ordered the bracket tonight) on/under my Robalo T-Top. I currently have gunnel mount Lee 16 foot riggers. The question is: What size mono do I put on the reels to use them for teasers? I plan to put the teaser mono through the second eye on the rigger. Suggestions otherwise?? Need your help.

I have a pair of Penn Senator 113's mounted under my t-top that I run my teasers off of. I have 150 lb test main line on them.

I DITTO 150 AS JOHN SAYS.....REMEMBER IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO LOAD THE TEASER REEL UP FULL!!!

    AND KEEP THE CLICKER ON!!!

ALSO....A TEASER REEL IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE OPERATOR.....IT TAKES WORK...KEEP THE GRASS OFF OF IT......AND EYES ON IT CONSTANTLY.....A BRIDLED BALLYHOO BEHIND A STALKER SMALL BAITHEAD, OR AN ILANDER...EITHER A BULLET HEAD OR SAILURE IS ABOUT AS GOOD AS IT GETS

Wahoonbox has it keyed on as well as the others!!

Make sure you dont set it and forget it! Teasers are just as if not more important than an other lure in your spread!

150 is good but sometimes i like to dacron and put it thru a glass eye so there is no rubbing or friction to cause anything.. have also used mono in the past and it works awesome too!!

I like to pull spreader bar teasers off my glass eyes when in tourneys where we can not use them with hooks i like them!!

But i also like to idea that box has brought up and i am going to try that this year it sounds yummy!!

I am a big fan also of putting braid marauders underneath my bar teasers!! really really tends to add to the spread and bring up tuna and wahoo! watch out though.. they fly out of the water! lol

Good luck and let us know how it works out!!

I also have a friend of mine who mounted two smaller avets onto the posts along the riggers!! also works awesome but have to use braid to hold a decent amount of line!

Good luck once again !! post some pics of the outcome! excited to see!!

I have a 25' Parker, and have two diawa 50Hs mounted under the t top which I use as teaser reels. More times than not, fish come up to the teasers first. I pull a daisy chain of islanders on one side and one with squid on the other side.

Just remember to clear 'em or you will have a mess at boatside.

Can someone show me how the line runs when you have the reel mounted under your top?

Do you have the line run to eyes on your riggers or a flat line off the sides or what? I am interested in doing this on my rig ... thanks in advance for your input

The newer boats that i have worked on like hatteras and viking they have electric ones built inside the hard top.. you hit a panel and it folds down and the reels are shown. they run some kind of friction proof hole out of the side of the hard top and we used to run them thru glass eyes that i tied off like 5-7 feet up the rigger depending on the lengh of the rigger.. you can also run them thru anything else outside of the hardtop on the lower section just above the helm.. you can use anything you want but for some reason i like the glass eyes..

You can like i said run them thru anything like a heavy coastlock if you want.. just got to watch for friction and have them somewhere you can get ot them fast if you have to reel them in or tease a fish off of them!
