Slow day on the Rise
**** Baywolf and E40 having a pretty interesting day yesterday, new rods, reels, crew and plenty of chicken where packed and ready this AM. Crew consisted of Phil, Billy, Timmy , David and myself. Phil got to witness the near end of Baywolf yesterday, luck for Rick the Scud Misslie missed
Sloppy ride out again but we finally set out in 17fthms inshore of the Rise and worked out. Slow but soon the planer jumps, snipped bait, then the right long pops and David lands his first Mahi, nice 10lber. Get into 20fthms and the planer gets snipped 3 more times
Soon the WWB snaps and a nice 20lb. Bull puts on a show and Timmy cranks him to the steel
Checking baits Phil has a Hoo streak thru in the prop wash and snips off a bait on #8 wire, only loss of the day
22 fthms the left long goes into the next zip code and Phil goes to cranking, we are thinking nice mahi but a fat 25lb. Hoo rolls up off the stern and quickly feels the sting! Pretty slow until we hit 35fthms and work around **** Freebird and Cameron on the Impulse. Monster strike on the planer and I snatch the drag back just as studdly launches and comes unhooked. 10/0 Mustad nearly straightned and twisted over

then the monster attacks the WWB, looked like a explosion back there. 50W screams and Phil jumps to do battle and we have him for few seconds but he won't take the drop back, would have loved to sink some hurt into that pig, maybe next trip
Last fish of the day a small bonita take the right long, peep squeak gets a free pass to grow up. Stop on a # coming in to see if the triggers were there and they were tapping but the steady wind kept pushing off the small lump.
Sloppy day but we got some pullage, 1 Hoo, 4 mahi, 1 stinky and a bonita. To cap the ride in off, 1/4 mile out the inlet the port engine bogs down and shuts down, quick check and fuel buld is collapsed, plugged fuel filter, so I limp her to the dock on the other. Plenty of chicken eaten **** some good friends, what more could I ask for?

I can't imagine a fish hitting **** enough force to straiten a 10/0 Mustad that quickly...
Hopefully the hoo's will hang around and make a good showing throughout the fall...

Thanks guys! The Labor day trip spoiled us as you can see we brought extra angler expecting to slaughter 10 of them slobs
but it's fishing and we didn't get skunked!
Tuesday is the first day at the new job and I'm getting a little nervous, new place, new people and it's Mon-Fri. Haven't worked a straight day job in 12 1/2 years so it'll take a little getting use to. I finally sleep like a normal person, noe of that sitting up til 3 am and getting up at 10-11 in the morning. Dr.'s say shift work takes 10 years off the life expectancy of a person
I hope I can reverse that
