Slow day down south today
Welp it has been a long day, left home at 2:20am with one member of the crew, Phil and picked up Billy and Eric at CMF in New Bern. With E40 on his honeymoon somebody needed to run the Electric Bill to make sure everything still worked
, Headed out BI at 4:30am heading South to our usual killing grounds. Ride out wasn't that bad until the sun came up and there were quite a few whitecaps all around. Wind had started to shift SW so we ran to the Hole and set out and waited, soon the CWC guys showed. Talked to Going Deep before they headed up the beach, congrats on your fish guys! Never found a rip or bait, temp all over the place 79-84 deg. Deployed the planer hoping for a pig that never came only trimmed the bait 1 time all day. Finally around noon the WWB comes down and we put Eric on his first Hoo, nice 20-25lb. fish. Snagged a slinger mahi soon after and missed another. Got one bite on the WWB, that didn't come back to the drop back I gave him. The Joe Shute bait on the WWB got all the attention today. What a sloppy ride in, I eventually ran into the Island Girl with Capt. Tracy providing a wave flattening ride in, still plenty of spray. Fun thing about the day, we knew the SW was gonna blow up and plan was to stay south so we would have it at our tail coming home. Well I decided to take a nap with Billy at the wheel, woke up and we were almost to the NE corner of the Stone , Boy did that make things interesting trying to get back to the 14 Bouy. Pretty slow day, considering some of our recent trips, Eric got his first Hoo, congrats, sorry we couldn't load the boat but we didn't get skunked. Chip you'll get your boat back sometime next........... ![]() Foul Hook'd |
