Ran out to the blue water yesterday with the family and Zack from Break Marine to shake down the new boat. Picked at the Mahi's than came into the 302 to do a little jigging. As I pulled back over the 302 and went to bring in the planer rod I got the line in to the planer and unclipped the 1st clip and as I went for the 2nd it was snatched out of my hands and out goes 30-35lbs of drag. This has to be one big Amberjack to pull this hard all while Zack is giving me chit about how bad this fish is making me look on an 80 in the gunnel. We see color, Cobia?, Shark? holy smokes its a giant Gag! Grab the gaff and in the boat she went. I’ll never forget the first trip out to the blue in this boat.
A slob indeed! Thank God for that 35lbs of drag and the forward motion of the boat. Those big rascals do not mess around!
Congrats on a very special fish!

I don't have a lot of time under my fighting belt going after the bottom dwellers to know just how special this fish is but I do have enough time reading this forum to know if Nick says so it IS.
Troy I understand you had a special day on the water Saturday.
Box, Yes Sir only Old Salty 4 me even though I did have to donate this one when this big girl took it out of my hands.
MM...I need a while because it is going to take a few days for me to eat all the meat I got from her. I bet I got 1/2 a pound out of the cheeks alone.
Yes, went from the CC to the EC with a full tower. A little more comfort and a little better setup for the type of fishing we do. Waiting on Furuno NN3D to have her finished, could be a while.
