Slip Slidin report, a day of records!
What a great day on the water... Got the invite to ride with Slip (Nick), SeaBiscuit (Nick), and WhiteLakeBuc (Pete).
The plan was to go jigging and have some chunk bait ready for a shot at Blackfin. First fish of the day was a 15lb White Trevally for SB. Soon after I had my first fish on. It fought good for a few seconds them felt like a jack that had been sharked... came right up. We know what fish do that... Cobia and this one was a big one. We gaffed him pretty green, but he calmed down after a few wacks from a 10lb downrigger ball. Within minutes I was on again. Coming up easy, it's a tilefish or, no, it's another cobia. The first one made this one look tiny. Both came on a 150G Rana jig in white/silver.

We moved around and caught a few red grouper and trigger fish. Nick (SB) caught his personal best trigger, a monster shark and a colorful Toro
Red grouper on 225g Duhr Jig

From there we moved to a spot I had marked named "gag hole" and it held its name. On the first drop Pete gets crushed on a 150 Rana and does battle with a monster in the rocks. Pete wins and gets his personal best gag. Since all grouper were vented an released we didn't get a weight on it but it was 46". Nick also got about a 15 lb gag here.

Another move, a few more White Trevally and Slip gets his first jigged Trevally, this one an African Pompano.
Give us a kiss.

Then it got exciting. Remember when I said we had chunks ready in case something came up to the boat. Well something did, something BIG. Chip Baker was on his boat near by and said they had seen several big wahoo around the boat. Nick had been chunking for a wile and stepped up the effort. Within minutes we had four big wahoo around the boat. They wanted nothing to do with jigs or hooked baits. What turned the tide was when Nick started chunking frozen sardines. I was at the bow and could see wahoo coming form every angle 4,5 now 6, 7, 8, 10! at one point I counted 14. They were taking the chunk but not the hooked. It didn't take much longer till one did though. Nick (SB) was on! The fish made several loops around the boat and long runs. Nick was using a Penn Int inshore rod that most would use for drum or flounder with a Saragossa 8000 reel. We tried to hook up a second but couldn't. I can't say if Nick's fish was the biggest of the group, they were all in that calss. The fight lasted about 20 minutes. I gaffed the beast and put an end to a day that will be had to top.

Nice work boys!!! I heard the stories were coming.
I need to work on my fish ID...pretty sure in the heat of multiple hookups that 2 trevally got the dehooker early on. We saw some cobia under the boat too but couldn't get em to eat.
Hope that you guys weighed that Hoo....you should make sure they send you 2 citations for that slob.
