    Slip Slidin Report 8/12

Woke up this mornin and turned on the local news. Weather man said it was 64 degrees outside. Thought to myself this poor fella got a hold of some really bad crack last night. Went outside to see for myself and damn if he wasn't right. Felt like early October. Went down to the dock and started getting things ready while I was waiting for Bottom Dweller to show up. I hear the gate open at 6:59 and there he is with a box full of fried chicken in hand, bottom rods, diet dr. peppers, and tackle. Full of piss and vinegar. Said he had to go back to the house to get a jacket. We are still in August aren't we. We chummed up a few neighborhood pets (pinfish) and took em along for a journey(some of em made it back, some of em didn't). Cleared the inlet and were welcomed by 10 to 15 out of the northeast and 2-3 footers. A little more than they forecasted but not too shabby. The cool temps more than made up for the slight sloppiness. Caught some more bait at 10 miles and made our way offshore. Stopped at 4 to 5 spots that produced 3 reds, numerous seabass, a few beeliners, and a king. One spot we tried anchoring no less than 6 times and we could not get the anchor to hold. One of those stops. Came across some hard bottom that helped us finish out our limit. It was a pretty cool red grouper bite. When hitting the bottom, no need to feel for a bite, just rare back. Dead bait, live bait, crippled bait, chicken legs, I don't think it would have mattered what was on the hook, it was going to get eaten. Along with the reds, we were able to bring aboard a special guest today. Here are a few shots.

    Bottom Dweller in action.

Bottom Dweller with one of the biggest reds today which he caught on a jig.

    The guest of honor.

A few honorable mentions that made it for the free ride.

I really enjoyed it today Bottom Dweller. Hell of a bite we were on there. No complaints. Life is good. Slip.

WOW! That my brother is gettin it done! I know how special the Hogfish is for you, Congrats on a killer fish! He looks like a stud at that! The dock shot is one of the prettiest I have seen. The master has taught you well. As for the write up, your best so far! I wish I were down there to help you with dinner. Life is Good indeed.

Thanks for the awesome day Nick! Your hard work paid off as we put a hurtin' on 'em!

The "big red" on the Jig was a bonus for me. I love braided line, didnt know fiberglass could bend that much and am hooked on jigging!

The Black Bass bite was more like a winter time bite today. Enjoyed jigging them up.

Your Hog topped the day off. Glad I got to see one come to the boat without a speashaft through his head. Fights like an AJ, yet taste a helluva lot better!

And the grouper bite at the end of the day was unreal. I believe you when you say they would have hit a chicken leg had we thrown one at them. I believe that was called "catching" and not "fishing"! Some great bottom you put us on and a phenomonal bite.

Thanks for having me along today and that is one pretty "dock shot" picture!
