    Slip Slidin Report 4/25

Headed out today with JMS. Cleared a funky inlet this morning to be greeted by calm winds and a leftover swell that was tight enough to keep us from being able to open it up. Somewhat frustrated we pushed along at about 25 knots. Stopped at 19 miles to make bait and pushed offshore. Our first stop, we put a few in the box.

Next stop, Matt started grunting on the other side of the boat. I looked over to see and he had a nice bend in the rod. This was the one pullin on the other end.

Another stop or two and the box was lookin pretty good. Last stop of the day we came across a beautiful scratch that was holding a ton of bait. This is where we ended the day. We threw back numerous keepers and somehow miscounted the number of fish in the box. We both landed some nice scamps and released one of them thinking we had only one more to go for two limits.
Next time we will do a more thorough count.

We also had a school of reef donkeys under the boat. Matt grabbed the spinning rod with a gotcha plug tied on. He started teasing them with it. Just as he said, "This is about one of the dumbest things I have done in a long time" his rod doubles over. Game on. After about a fifteen minute battle, Matt had him whipped.

The day would not be complete without a full grown lizardo.

    Dock shot.

Mother nature can be a kind lady when she wants to be. Today might have been one of the prettiest days this year. I hope we get many more of them soon. Enjoyed it today Matt. No complaints. Life is good. Slip.

As usual the carnage is non stop on the OL' Slip boat. I know 2 of them grouper filets made some pretty good grouper salad that mysteriously disapeared today some 60+ miles off Wrightsville Beach today.

Love it when the knee comes up to hold a Puddinhead steady for the camera. That thing ought to have a curly tail and a snout! Very nice catch Brothers Nick and Matt! It is great to see mother nature cooperate a little for a change. Thanks for the report and pics.
