Had a special guest join Biscoto and I today. The Godfather himself hopped aboard for a day of chasin critters. Plan was to head offshore and troll for a wahoo in the morning and try the botttom in the afternoon. Well, mother nature was a little nasty first thing this mornin. We made it out to the 20 mile area and decided to give the gags a try and also see if the forecast for the day would ever transpire. We caught a few short gags and Biscoto added several nice grouper candies to the livewell as we were contemplating inching our way offshore. We decided to work our way off and it began to lay down the further we went. At about 40 miles we were finally able to let her eat. Put lines out at 10:30 by 1:00 we were bringing them back in. One king in the box and a couple of barracudas released we decided it was time to go to the bottom. We found a nice trigger bite offshore. We moved inshore a ways and came across a scratch that was holding a nice grade of reds.
Put a few in the box and the bite slowed down so we went to an area that has held some nice scamps in the past. Biscoto found one and a damn fine one at that.
Final lineup.
We had a great day with the Godfather. I think he was a little worn out by the end of the day. Enjoyed it greatly today fellas. Biscoto, congratulations on a great scamp. No complaints. Life is good. Slip.
Very Nice! You fellas found what I was looking for! Couldn't find them due to all the Gag's occupying their homes!
Nice catch and that Scamp is a monster!
You guys are killing me! Can't believe I'm stuck here in tick and chigger country... Slip don't you need an extra Bus Boy & fish cleaner @ the restaurant so that I can move to Wilmington???
Fabulous quality fish again...
