    Slip Slidin Report 1/24/07

i was out having some beers with a couple friends tuesday evening about 9 when i get a phone call. it is slip slidin on the other end. i sensed some urgency in his voice.....the urge to kill something. "hey.....hey. you want to go kill a fish tomorrow? hell yea! ok ill call you when i leave the restaraunt. aight later....later" the man was on a mission i tell ya!

we cleared the inlet about 10. light and slight does no justice to the conditons yesterday. it was more like farm pond calm out there. we made the 30 mile run to the first numbers in a little over an hour. would have been faster if we hadnt stopped to investigate some beautiful marks.

arrive at the numbers and slip nails the anchor. we start fishing. my second drop leads to a slob puddinhead. it was on after that. after about an hour of fishing, the box looks like this.....

the bite slowed at this spot so we pull anchor and move to a spot no more than half a mile away. we had 8 fish in the box and wanted a couple more nicer fish to fill out our 10 fish limit. the red groupers were snapping at this spot. 20" is a legal red grouper. we turned loose a dozen legal reds looking for a couple better fish. both slip and i got busted up by a nice gag down there. finally he ate my mess and got him in the boat, and slip polished of the box with a 23" red.

after a couple high fives, we cleaned up the boat, pulled the anchor, cranked up the tunes, and took her home at 30 some knots. back to the dock at 4:30

dont worry Biscoto.....we knew you were freezing your ass off up there in the great white north. we got the puddins' number and they are waiting on your return. we missed you!

Nice job with the report and pics jlm. We got lucky yesterday and scratched out a pretty good trip. Mother nature finally simmered down a little bit and offered up her ocean to us for a few hours. Ice Cream Man I did not forget about you. Last time we spoke you mentioned that you wanted to learn and get better at bottom fishing. We did not have the master with us yesterday and there is no one better to learn from than Biscoto, that I know. He has taken the time to teach all of us that have been fortunate enough to fish with him. We missed you yesterday Biscoto. He talks about the Old Salts in his other thread, which I truly respect, but he forgot to include himself. His blood is cobalt blue. Matt, I had a great time yesterday. Thanks again.
