    slip slidin fishin report 6/12

Had a noon departure yesterday. Light northeast wind kept it cool and dry all afternoon. Decided to go to the tower and see if we could find a hogfish. We are still trying to figure them out. Biscoto landed a king on the light line that had his back third taken away. Probably a stinky that got a little snack. Spent a while in the area with nothing hitting on the bottom. Biscoto did land two bills. Both released (seagulls). They were very aggressive yesterday. They were eating bucktails which we were pitching to Mahi's that were chasing schools of bait. Left the tower area and headed north and offshore and nothing much was hitting there either. Landed one red. It was about 5:30 and we decided to head inshore where we marked a scratch on the way to the tower. Ended the afternoon there with two gag limits and a mahi. Also released 3 or 4 kings. Here is a pic of the tower. Hope it never goes away. Nice to have a point of reference out there.

    Biscoto with a nice gaffer.

    Box shot.

    Miss Lickalot tenderizing the mahi.

Great day on the water. Had a great time as always Biscoto. No complaints. Life is good. Slip.

Nice job pulling together a great catch late in the day. I have never been out to the tower so I'm gonna put that on my list to do in the near future. We have been talking about catching it in the fall one year, maybe this year is the one!!

    Slip,
I wish I would have known you and Biscuit were at the tower yesterday. We were out there also, just inshore of the tower. The water was warm and visibility was unlimited. On one dive we spent 1hr and 8 minutes in the water. Fish were everywhere, from pinkies to grunts, hogfish and groupers, lobsters, AJ's,kings you name we saw it. I even had to fend off a 6' nurse shark looking for a free meal with the help of my dive buddy Alan. We did 4 dive on the inshore ledges then moved near the Knucle bouy and found a charted wreck, the George Weems and pulled a 33" Gag off of it.
Not trying to hijack your thread but I'll post a few pics of the days take.
Let me know the next time you head south and I'll join you and do some pre-scouting.
