Check out Betts nets web site. I have the 12 ft 3/4 " net with 1.7 lbs of lead per foot. so it will sink faster and won''t give the fish so mch time to escape

Do you mean an actual sink net for deep water pogies, or do you mean a cast net?

a pic of the sink net is what I am after, I have plenty of cast nets, I also have what I think is a sink net that I use in the James river for big shad, not sure if what I got will work or might need a modification. Thanks for the replies.

You will be hard pressed to find a picture of one alot of people don't know exactly what you are talking about, any 3.5" mesh will work we used about 25 yards and the net was only 6' deep (tall), no extra weights need to be used as the lead core line will sink the net and we if you use small corks for the top line. If you can't get the shad to push through or back out we would cut the mesh with scissors.

Weekender, a sink net from what I'm getting out of this is nothing but a gill net. Sounds like your shad net will work. If you are planning on keeping the bait alive, don't use one. Since you will have to handle each and every fish to get it from the net, you will kill or stress them enough to make them useless.

Also, I'd advise you to check the laws about using one in your area. You may need a commercial liscense or a permit.
