    Here is my contribution...

always bring TWO pair of sunglasses...accidents happen and most glasses sink !!!

always bring TWO hats...mine are a regular baseball cap and one with a brim all the way around...I change to the round brim once we start fishing...

always bring an extra jacket...a waterproof windbreaker can be rolled up and stored easily...

spray sunblock makes for one slick ass deck if they apply it in the pit...

everyone one on the boat that knows how to use a knife should have one on their belt with easy access...

always tie 10 more rigs than you think you will need for the day...a pitching boat is not the place to find out you don't have anymore...

This one is more for fun...unless your a female...keep your shirt on...

Rigger clips..I don't care what brand..need to be lubed sprayed with W-D, every trip and tested before you start trolling..kids love to twist knobs..it's no fun replacing a bent rigger tip due to a stuck or mal-adjusted clip!

    If you have Knockouts:

line from the rod tip has to go into the open clip from the bottom up..

people have a tendency to re-load the clip, especially when a lure is in the water and the line is under strain to make a loop and load into clip so the line from the rod tip is at the top of the clip..for some reason there is a binding effect when this happens!

take your spreader bars out of the bag for the winter and let them hang in the garage or basement (more of a personal reminder than a tip)

I like the one about wine corks for floats...

I still have to conscientiously think about that when I am setting out the spread.

    Great thread Lee !!!! >>>>>

get 3/4" double sided velcro from a fabric store to secure lures or weights against your rods - also works to bundle rods when carrying several off the boat

big book bags make good boat/beach/ditch bags

salt water only when thawing baits

always have a strap on your glasses, even if it's nothing but nail knotted mono

keep several big HD trash bags in your truck for those times when you need to carry something nasty or wet

get a waterproof flashlight such as Pelican for your boat bag

plenty of times we have used clothespins while out sharking to easily adjust the spread, a short trace of mono tied to the pin and attached to the bow rails to spread out the spread a bit...you would be surprised how easily you can hear the snap of the line getting yanked out of the pin.

    I started using...

Range balls(golf balls) for sinkers when live baiting trout on the beach and sometimes oyster reefs. The things cast a mile and sink through the school slowly. Once it hits the bottom it rolls along covering ground. I use a 6 foot leader and live finger mullet. Just drill a hole through the center of the ball and clean it out with a rigging needle. They work great!
