September 11th Jitters on the 12th !

After three weather cancellations, Fred Lametta and his son Jack finally got out on Tuna Wahoo. We ran out to the Princess area and the Chicken Canyon but found 71 degree, green water. There were no birds, no bait, no whales, no good signs, but we found two things.... bluefish and 45 miles offshore, a Coast Guard safety inspection! Due to September 11th anxiety, a cutter from New Hampshire was moved down to New Jersey. We had fun with the Coasties (the inflatable was a mess!) and then running back in at 20 knots, 20 miles offshore we were hailed by the Navy ! They were moving a warship South (I think it was an Aegis) and felt we were on an intercept course, three miles away. More September 11th jitters ! Well we had a lot of laughs, great seas, and I got to see our tax dollars at work.

Your Navy ship looks like the New York. She was in NY harbor for the Sept 11 ceremonies. It's one of the new Littoral Combat Ships and has several tons of Trade Center steel in it's structure so she tends to be around for days like that.

Robja- Unfortunately it's starting to get a little cool up here for bikini clad girls on the bow, the bars are still pretty hot though !
