I'm partial to 7691 Southern Tuna Style hooks. 7/0 or 8/0 for most fishing works for me. I also prefer the Stainless (7691S)

I agree with the 7691 8/0 they work for just about anything you want to catch with a mono leader.

7691 is pretty much the standard meatfish hook used in Carolina for such applications with mono. I prefer the DT over stainless, but I don't think that's the question here.

9/0 7691 DT is my go to meatfish hook on witches with mono(easier to sharpen and get a nice point than the stls versions IMO) Witches on wire I like the 7731 needle eye in 8/0.

7/0 to 8/0 mono, I like the 7692. The 7691 under an 8/0 size does not have the long swept closed throat point like the 9/0 and bigger. A little bit cheaper too.

I have not used them as much as most of the southern guys but when i use anything with hoosk or strips behind them i am very into the new owner long shanks.. they come in 8/0 9/0 11/00 and 12/0.. they have a smaller dimension and shark hooks with a great breaking strengh!!

I just love them and have converted everything i have over to them for ballyhoo and other naturals.. when it comes to straight plastic lures i stick with the 7691..

See how the 9/0 in the attachment above has a just a bit more long swept point to the shank than the 7/8 or 8/0. That is the ticket!

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE A 7691 OR 7692 ....(WIRE DIAMETER IS DIFFERENT)
