    Seabiscuit Report---August 22, 2010

Nick told me Saturday that the little skiff hadn't been in a couple of weeks and if the weather broke for Sunday that we would make a run for it. As luck would have it, the wind fell out Saturday night around 8pm and we recruited JMS-ILM along for the ride as well.

Rolled past the Run Off yesterday morning on their way diving as we set off into a flat calm ocean. Made bait pretty quick (thanks Slip! ) and off we went.

First two stops, I got lucky and added a nice gag and scamp to the box.

Next stop was a prospect drop on a new mark we ran over which resulted in this little guy:

My biggest red grouper to date---24 lbs. Fish were being very finicky today and a little bit lighter (100 lb. fluorocarbon) leader was the ticket.

Made another stop which turned out to be the last of the day. Started off being a very nice grouper bite with Matt adding a nice scamp to the deck and I caught another big puddin' head...this one being 22 lbs. However, Nick quickly stole the show with the first hogfish of the day.

Didn't take long for the deck to look like this:

First there were 3 laying on deck...........then a 4th was added quickly.........then a 5th. Myself and Nick had already caught 2 each and now Matt was doubled up on his second one. Until now, all of them were females. That is, until Matt caught the stud:

While he was fighting this fish, myself and Nick were both hooked up to hogs which brought the count to 8 hogs in about 10 minutes!! We even released the last two for seed! (Jacques, you better hurry and get down here!!)

Here's 4 of the bigger ones:

This one is the last one I caught which was released:

The box was now stuffed so we headed for the hill. Unbelievable fishing today guys---enjoyed it as always! Like you said, Nick, not sure what we're going to do here shortly if we keep raising the bar on every trip! Thanks again for another great day on the water!

Looks like you guys had one hell of a day again!!

How do you tell the difference in sex on the hogs? Are the males just darker?

    Thanks for the report!
