SeaBiscuit fishing report April 25, '08

All of you wahoopies got to know captain Mike (Mako Wish) trough Marty's bluefin videos of this past winter. Mike has been coming to NC for the bluefin winter season the past few years. Each year he stays a little longer. I think he likes it here!

Anyway, Mike has been curious about this NC bottom fishing I love so much. The weather lined up good for today, so he made the drive to Wrightsville showing up with a sack full o' biscuits and another full o' sammiches! I knew it was going to be a good day, right then and there! Dude even brought smokes!

We fished 35 miles or so off the hill, in an area conspicuously blank on my gps screen. I wanted to find some new marks and the good captain did not mind going exploring. Once settled on the first new mark captain Mike went to work:


He got the hang of it rather quickly!

Stopped just short of two grouper limits, as I wanted to try the inshore gags on the way in. We got a few, but no keepers. No action on the lightlines, but the offshore water is warming up fast!
A glorious day on the water with a great new fishing friend!

Well I have been wanting to go bottom fishing in NC from the time I got down here... So when I was asked to go with Seabiscuit there was no way I was not going....

What a great experence... I never knew how good the bottom fishing is in N.C.

Beautiful day. Flat sea. Constant action. I had a truly enjoyable day with a great fishermen who took the time to teach me alot about Carolina bottom fishing...

From catching the bait, proper anchoring, and to how to look and find new bottom that holds fish. We fished new spots that Nick found in a new area he wanted to check out, witch was way cool...

I cant thank Nick ( Seabiscuit ) enough for the edcuation and experence I had... I gained a new friend and learned so much..... I cant wait untill the next time I get to fish with my new friend...
