SeaBiscuit fishin report Nov 7, 2008

I am definitely getting old. Used to be there was nice calm mornings when I could run my little montauk 10 or 20 miles offshore, catch a few fish and get back with plenty of morning left. Never seem to can do that no more. After all these years of working the same waters, finding the fish is not a problem, but the getting there and getting back seems to get harder. Have we had any flat calm days this year? I remember when 2-4 was an invitation to cruise all the way to Bermuda. Today's 1-2 was more annoying that any other.

Plan B (ie get some gags and get back home early) was quickly agreed on by Matt, my boat mate for today. The gag "love" migration is in full swing. Fish were everywhere where good bottom and abundant bait converged and they were looking to eat. First stop held mostly upper 20 inch fish. having to keep two deep hooked ones we moved on to find a better grade. We found that a few miles further and by mid morning all our goals were accomplished except one: a big fish for Matt.

He fed this one a few choice baits before he finally tricked him!

By the time this fella joined his mates in the chill box, I had the boat all tidy and ready for the run back to the hill.

It laid down to nothing inshore around noon, but it was too late in the day to head to Bermuda so we decided to get back to work instead and save a half day off for another time.

There is nothing like a good gag bite!

    Cheers,
    SeaBiscuit
