What is conspicuously absent is the SeaTow OI response. I noticed he was quick to jump in Swancaller's sh**, but NOTHING since Mike reminded him of the conversation.

Hey guys,
Lets give Capt. Stuart a break. He is relatively new in this business, and may have mistakenly misquoted. As I have said before I know Capt. Stuart personally, and I feel as if that may infact be the case. Our International office has been made aware of this situation and is in the process of clearing everything up between the two parties involved.

Just 1 month ago I had to go out 30 miles for a member that only needed a jumpstart. When I left the inlet in my 22' RHIB, it was nice and calm, blowing maybe 10-15kts from the south. I was making an easy 25+ knots. Once I got out to about 15 nm it started picking up. By the time got on scene it was blowing 25-30kts S with gusts 35+, and 8'-10' breaking swells . There was no way I could jump start them so I had to take them in tow. The captain of the disabled boat decided that it was safer to just cut his anchor line than it was to retrieve it. Once in tow I made the decision, because it was unsafe, to call the CG and have them come tow the vessel. They responded in their 47' MLB. They towed the boat in, with me in escort, and decided due to wind and waves that Beaufort Inlet was not the safest way to go. They instead decided to tow them into the hook of the cape where it was slick calm. I was then able to come along side and jump start them. Once started he then followed me back to Morehead City throught the Harkers Island Channel. All this was performed "FREE" with his membership. Lesson to be learned: check your weather before you leave, especially if you plan to spend the night. Also in my professional opinion, always rig dual batteries and a selector switch, as well as, if staying overnight, a fully charged spare battery. That is if you have the room.

If anyone has any questions or comments please feel free to call me. I'm always glad to talk to ya.

I will leave it alone and wouldn't have got the last dig in if his first post wasn't so service driven

Dan, enjoyed your post on that tow...you definitely went above and beyond.

In conclusion to my trip last week when I was towed in by Tow US out of Hateras I recieved my check today for $918 from Sea Tow because they do not service that area. I could not be happier with my membership.

Personally, I would like to hear from the OI Seatow francise. There was an incident told on the tidal fish Virginia board about a Sea Tow francise that refused to tow a new member because he had not inspected the condition of his boat yet. Initially the local Sea Tow operator came on the board to tell the story and the facts. Then I guess Sea Tow corporate got involved and told him to stay off the internet and communicate only with the parties involved. While I can certainly understand this, the rest of us members never found out about the "boat inspection" policy unless we called personally. Bottom line - Sea Tow looked bad because they refused to state their case on the internet. It's better to tell us your policies and AOR boundries up front rather than surprise us when we are on the water stranded.

Awesome job as always Dan! Bad as I hate to admit it Dan saved my but one day coming in the inlet about 19 knots with a huge following sea the boat took a unexpected 90 degree turn to the beach when we lost steering I slammed her in reverse to keep me off the beach then the Rudder spun around & got in the wheel you know the rest of the story. Thanks Dan!

Stuart is a great guy. I have known him for awhile and before that Joe.
I spoke to Stuart personally yesterday and he told me he was asked not to respond. If you have any questions contact him directly. If you have any questions about why his first post was the way it was call him you will completely understand. If you want him to keep posting call him and ask him. I'm sure he would be delighted that is if Sea Tow allows that type of thing (confidentaility ???).
Stuart is a very friendly guy and would be glad to talk to anyone. He does go by Sea Tow international's plans. If you have Sea Tow and get in trouble out here he will take care of you one way or another I have seen him or a representative out at the point more than once.
I am not getting in the middle so please call him, if you don't know him you'd be surprised at how friendly he is (especially if all you know about him is from this post)

The only reason I can think of to why Sea Tow will not respond is we will not like the answer.
