I called Sea tow OI because I am about to renew. I specifically asked Capt Stuart about fishing offshore out of OI. We discussed fishing the point.... which is a normal area to fish out of OI. I in no way want to discredit sea tow or any of the sea tow franchisers!!! I have never had to use sea tow but have know others that have and they spoke highly of the service that is WHY I BECAME A MEMBER AND HAVE BEEN A MEMBER UNTIL APRIL 18 2007!! I called this Sea tow Capt to ensure that they still had coverage offshore out of OI prior to renewal. When HE told me that he only covers 10 miles from the sea bouy it floored me. He stated this 3 different times to me. He also stated they dont have a franchise out of Hatteras because there is not enough boat traffic there! I know he will go past 10 miles but what good is it if it is not covered by the tow insurance because I am outside his AOR. I in no way want to discourage anyone from using Sea Tow OI or any other sea tow service. I just wanted to let the people that fish OI and Hatteras know what I found out by ACTUALLY TALKING TO SEA TOW AND BOAT US OI!!

ALL SEA TOW franchises will tow it's members FREE out to 40 miles some franchises will go even FURTHER and tow it's members FREE if they have the boats big enough, this again is up to the SEA TOW franchise.
F_STOP This is exactly why I called Capt Wescott!! This was not second hand information. I talked to GlennW about it after my conversation with Capt Wescott!!

This is exactly why we have and belong to this site...because of being able to share info like Mike is sharing. I don't know why the Sea Tow guys want to get their panties in a wad...I absolutely believe Mike called Sea Tow OI and I absolutely believe that he has passed on exactly what he was told by Capt Stuart. It is up to each of us to utilize this information to our benefit. Mike, thanks for sharing bro.

I'm with you 100% Anthony. Chief Labonte's (Swancaller) integrity is impecable (sp). At the same time, I am very familar with the fantastic service Sea Tow provides around the MHC area. I'm not so familar with the OI Sea Tow operation, but hopefully there is some kind of misunderstanding.
It would be great to hear from the OI Sea Tow franchise to explicity state his policy as to what is and what is not covered under the full membership (unlimited) distance wise-- under safe sea conditions. Then, maybe we can all agree on what is and what isn't covered and make our decisions from there.

From my experience fishing at Oregon Inlet, when boats out in the stream get into trouble( 40 miles off ), the coast guard normally renders assistance. They will get you in close and turn you over. If you are a member currently with Sea Tow coverage, i would not sweat it. The Guard at Oregon Inlet is extremely helpful.

I have used Sea Tow in conjunction with the Guard at Oregon Inlet two times and both experiences with them were very good also.

SEA TOW cape may n.j. will get members and HAS gotten members out to the Canyon, our nearest Canyon is 65 N.M. from cape may inlet we have gotten members out to 75 N.M. FREE!! Plus with SEA TOW all members get a FREE "dock to dock" after 30 days with BOAT US you have to pay for that on it's unlimited towing package.

NOT to start an internet war and to be perfectly objective check boating forums like (thehulltruth.com) see what people say SEA TOW vs. BOAT US, see what company is better in your area, talk to other boaters that have USED the service. Any questions call 1 800 4 SEATOW or call your local SEA TOW franchise. SEA TOW has to service it's members because we are franchises and the only way to grow is to service are members.

First off, I can attest that Capt Clay/SEA TOW@Ocean Isle Beach, NC will come and get you out 40 or 50nm no problem. Great people and by far the best service in the area period. It seems to me that if SeaTow OI will not provide the stated coverage under the nationwide program then maybe his franchise rights should be reviewed by Sea Tow. This is the only franchise of Sea Tow that I have heard of pulling crap like this and I think it would be to the best interest of the other concerned franchise operators to get it straight with Sea Tow & the OI franchise before it hurts the company as a whole. If that is not the police of Capt. Stewart/SeaTow OI I'm sure he will have no problem posting it here for all SeaTow's customers to see. I for one would like to know before I take my rig back up there again.

Thumbs up

I have personally been 70 nm from Beaufort inlet for a member "FREE" service. We routinely respond out to the Big Rock.

BREATHE IN.........AHHHHH

FIRST I WANT TO SAY THAT I PERSONALLY WOULD ENTER HAIDES ITSELF ON FIRE WITH THE SWANCALLER...........

I HOPE THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED AND SWAN GETS GOOD SERVICE FOR HE LITERALLY LIVES ON THE WATER 24/7

SEATOW HAS BEEN A STALLION IN THE TOWING BIZNESS FOR YEARS.....AND I THINK ALL TOWING BIZNESSES IN MHC DO A FANTASTIC JOB! ....I LIKE TO SPREAD THE BIZNESS AROUND A BIT AND HAVE USED BOTH LOCAL SERVICES IN THE PAST.............HELL I HAVE SEEN BOTH SEATOW AND TOWBOAT U.S. REMOVE FLOATING DEBRIS FROM MHC YACHT BASIN AND ON THEIR OWN DIME!!!

I HAVE USED BOTH SEATOW AND TOW BOAT IN PREVIOUS YEARS AND CURRENTLY USE SEATOW FOR MY 23 GW.....

THEY (ST) CAME TO MY BECKON CALL ONCE LAST YEAR AND GOT THE JOB DONE PROPERLY WHEN I NEEDED IT

ALL I WOULD EVER WANT FROM MY TOW SERVICE IS FOR THEM TO COME GET ME IN THE MHC FISHING ZONES WHEN I HAILED THEM FOR HELP

I HAVE SEEN BOTH SERVICES ENTER THE INLET TO ANSWER A CALL WHEN THE SHIT WAS GOING DOWN BAD!! AND I TIP MY RIGGERS TO THEM!

SEATOW ...OREGON INLET......AND SEA TOW BEAFORT INLET

I HOPE WE CAN HEAR FROM YOU GUYS ON A REGULAR BASIS!!! RIGHT HERE ON SFC!!!! YOUR STORIES WOULD BE PRICELESS NOT TO MENTION STORIES WILL GET YOU HEADLINE$ !

HOW ABOUT A SAFTEY COLUMN ONCE A WEEK OR SO ON HOW NOT TO SINK? OR HOW ABOUT HOW TO SECURE LINES FOR TOWING WHEN YOU COME GET OUR BUTTS OUT THERE

ANYWAY....GLAD TO SEE SEATOW ALERT HERE ON SFC

AND TO THE OREGON INLET STATION.....ALL'S WELL DUDE! THIS WAS AND STILL IS A GOOD THREAD...HOPEFULLY IT WAS A MISCOMMUNICATION AND I ALSO HOPE SWAN' GETS HIS SERVICE SQUARED AWAY

ROCK ON!

OK Capt. Dan. I renewed with you last month. I fish mostly Hatteras and Oregon Inlet and some times MHC. I am under the impression that out of OI I have at least 50 miles of coverage. If I fish out of Hatteras and need help, I will have to pay the red guys and get reimbursed from Sea Tow up to $5000.

I really want to hear from the OI Captain again to resolve this. If I only have 10 miles of coverage from OI, then I wasted my money.

Lets clear this up.

Thanks,
Alan

Yep....Dan's the man. He even responds in the winter cold to tow in a 58' Viking in his smaller SeaTow boat.
