I'm glad the OI ST chimed in and our very own Capt. Dan as well. Goes to show...you don't go jumping to conclusions before you get all the facts. Sometimes, word of mouth isn't exactly fact.

Glad to hear from the Sea Tow mgmt!

Judging by Sea Tow O/I's picture, I would think he would be out there with everyone else draggin' hoo's waitin' for the call.

Every spring all the internet boards light up with posts about Sea Tow and BoutUS and how everything is changing. I think much of it is misinformation, because every time Sea Tow is asked the answer seems to be if you can make the call, they will come get you. I think the problem is that their literature does not say that and is much more vaque tha what you get from their mouths.

Perhaps the Sea Tow guys for the major harbors could give us the straight scoop on what they provide for the membership so we all know the real story. (BoatUS can too, but I'm a Sea Tow member and that's what I care about).

clt_capt,
As long as we can safely respond we will come and get you. I personally have been out 70 miles from Beaufort. Last year I had a captain tow a customer into Ocracoke. BTW the Big Rock is a standard call for us during the summer.

WAHOO,
If you have any concerns at all please call me. I know Stuart personally and know for a fact that he will respond as far as he safely can as well.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to call us anytime @ 1-877-SEATOW-5
Thanks - I have never had ANY issue or complaint and I have been a satisfied member for over 10 years. Glad to hear it and welcome!!!!!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I'm glad to be a part of such and informative message board.

Lee,
It's always good to talk to you no matter if it is on here on the road or on the water. We're always glad to have you as a loyal member.

clt_capt,
Glad to have you as a loyal member as well.

For anyone else considering a membership. Please speak with your local area providers. Also as Lee mentioned read the your membership information when you do sign up. It is sent for a reason, to inform you of what is covered and what is not. That being said, again call the local towing provider that you have chosen and find out what they will do as well.

Again thank you all for a warm welcome.

I talked to CAPT. STUART WESCOTT SEA\\TOW OREGON INLET 252-473-3465. He told me they changed their coverage because of Insurance reasons.....REMEMBER ME NOW CPAT!!! YES YOU DID TALK TO ME YOU STATED THIS TO ME ON THE PHONE!! Yes they will come out and get you but it will cost you!!! YOU STATED YOUR FREE COVERAGE WAS 10 MILES FROM THE SEA BOUY. I dont want someone thinking they can go 30 miles offshore and break down and get towed in for free. Boat US still covers you for 50 miles!!.... LET ME HELP YOU REMEMBER OUR CONVERSATION SIR..... YOU STATED IF I WAS OFFSHORE AND BROKE DOWN TO SHOOT OFF A SMOKE FLARE AND A CHARTER BOAT WOULD TOW US IN. THEN YOU WOULD PICK US UP OUTSIDE THE INLET!!! NOW DO YOU REMEMBER SIR. DONT CALL ME A LIAR! I WILL COME DOWN AND TALK TO YOU FACE TO FACE!!

FOLKS I TALKED TO CAPT STUART AND BOAT US WITHIN 10 MIN OF EACH OTHER!!

I have had sea tow for the last 5 years.........but after our conversation last week I changed to boat us!!

Thumbs up GETTING THE FACT RIGHT ON SEA TOW

ALL SEA TOW franchises will tow it's members FREE out to 40 miles some franchises will go even FURTHER and tow it's members FREE if they have the boats big enough, this again is up to the SEA TOW franchise. ALL SEA TOW members have "out of area coverage" to $5,000. SEA TOW cape may n.j. will get members and HAS gotten members out to the Canyon, our nearest Canyon is 65 N.M. from cape may inlet we have gotten members out to 75 N.M. FREE!! Plus with SEA TOW all members get a FREE "dock to dock" after 30 days with BOAT US you have to pay for that on it's unlimited towing package.

NOT to start an internet war and to be perfectly objective check boating forums like (thehulltruth.com) see what people say SEA TOW vs. BOAT US, see what company is better in your area, talk to other boaters that have USED the service. Any questions call 1 800 4 SEATOW or call your local SEA TOW franchise. SEA TOW has to service it's members because we are franchises and the only way to grow is to service are members.

I can definetly vouch for the quality of Sea Tow Cape May's service, they go above and beyond for members and non-members.
