    Sea Splendour WMO Report

This year's WMO adventure started on Saturday the 4th as we fished our way from Cape May to OC, MD. We left Cape May at 4:30 AM and ran 130 miles to the southeast to pre-fish some good water we saw on a sat shot. We found the water at 8:30 and put the worms in the water. Within the first hour we released a 70 pound yellowfin and missed a white. Throughout the day we had pods of 60-70 pound class yellowfins airing out on flyers and had a few crash our baits but didn't hook up. We ended the day at 2:30 after going 1-4 on whites and releasing a yellowfin and some mahi's. Jane caught our only white of the day.

Day 1 of the WMO found us running to 1100 fathoms of the Norfolk. When we arrived we discovered that the piece of water we were chasing had pushed outside of the 100 mile boundary. We pounded the deep of the Norfolk all day and ended up going 1 for 2 on whites with our only fish being caught on a small ballyhoo that Marty fed to the rat on a flatline.

Day 2 we ran to 1200 fathoms of the Poormans. Within the first 2 hours we missed a white and pulled the hook on est 250 pound blue. The rest of the day was uneventful until around 1:30 when we had a white pile on a Stalker Baithead/strip bait combo but didn't hook up. At 3:00 just when thought we were going to take a skunk for the day a white came in and piled on a medium green and yellow Stalker Instigator. He then switched over to a Stalker Baithead/strip bait combo and we got the release at 3:10.

Day 3 we went to 500 fathoms of the Spencer and watched everyone around us back down all day. We finally got our first bite around 3:00. He came up and piled on a naked spanish mac. He then went to the Baithead/stripbait combo and Glenn W fed him for a few seconds and the fight was on for a few minutes until we got the release around 3:15.

I completely agree. Thanks Sea Splendour.

Here are a couple shots of the white Glenn pulled in on our last day.

Huh, that looks like another one of those Stalker lures.

Sounds like you guys were at the right places and made the most of your shots. Billfish in each of three consecutive days is good fishing. Congratulations.

Nice work, guys. You certainly covered the mid-Atlantic looking for the fish, certainly wasn't for lack of effort. Glad you found a few and put some points on the board, I bet you were pissed seeing that water over the 100nm limit in the Norfolk. Sounds like a great time on the Sea Splendour, way to go.
