I know there are a bunch of hunters on the site here. This is pure BS. I know there are a few guys from Ct and mass on this site. Im looking for some help. We are looking to do some sort of fund raiser. Your lastest figure included are attorny fees court costs and some repairs to the range has totaled 500,000 bucks. We are holding a meeting on july 11 at 7pm at the blue trail shooting range in wallingford ct. I hope its all right that I post this here wahoo and ill post some more info in the am. Blue Trail's affect on reservoir questioned

WALLINGFORD - As accusations and controversy rage about the safety of the Blue Trail Range on North Branford Road, another issue is bubbling under the surface: the gun range's impact on the Ulbrich Reservoir.
On Tuesday, Town Councilor Vincenzo DiNatale raised questions before the Public Utilities Commission about whether spent bullets on reservoir watershed should be removed, and who would remove them. On Wednesday, he called on Blue Trail to start a program to remove its spent bullets from the watershed.
"I just don't think it should be the responsibility of the water customers (to pay) for the cleanup of that site," he said.
While water within the reservoir has tested clean, DiNatale said the presence of lead bullets near the reservoir presents a risk.
DiNatale is the nephew of Pat DiNatale, an outspoken critic of Blue Trail who has sued the range over alleged safety threats. Vincenzo DiNatale said he has "no interest" in seeing the business shut down and that he is concerned only about its environmental impact as a Wallingford water consumer.
In response to questions of water safety, the Wallingford Water Division is performing lead tests in and around the Ulbrich Reservoir and the state Department of Public Health has analyzed available water sampling data.
As the scrutiny continues, Blue Trail is quick to note that it existed and operated before the reservoir was built.
"The reservoir was built on top of a historic shooting range," said Blue Trail attorney Martha Dean.
The range struck a deal with Wallingford in 1961 in which it would convey land to the town for a reservoir. In the agreement, Blue Trail retained the right to shoot over the future water body and into the side of Tri-Mountain State Park. As it exists today, Blue Trail is just west of the reservoir, its 200-yard range separated from the water by a 35-yard buffer of trees.
While Dean would not discuss DiNatale's call for a cleanup system, she said the reservoir has yielded clean drinking water over the decades. Water Division testing in the 1990s found that water within the Ulbrich Reservoir was clean, although some lead was found in water runoff from Blue Trail bullet sites.
Annual testing of pretreated water at a connected water body, Pistapaug Pond, has shown no evidence of lead contamination within the last five or six years, according to Darrell Smith, of the Department of Public Health. Water from Ulbrich is pumped into Pistapaug before it reaches the treatment plant. Smith, the acting chief of the drinking water section, has also received preliminary data from the recent tests at Ulbrich Reservoir.
Samples taken on May 9 found a lead content of .003 milligrams per liter on a stream from Blue Trail into the reservoir, Smith said. Another sample found less than .001 milligrams per liter at a stream at the south end of the reservoir, he said. The May 9 sampling occurred on a rainy day.
Smith said these numbers are relatively small. The maximum amount of lead allowed in pretreated water is .05 milligrams per liter, he said.
Given what he's seen so far, Smith said there does not appear to be a significant lead problem, but he has asked for lead testing at different depths within the Ulbrich Reservoir.
The Department of Public Health does not prohibit shooting on watersheds.

You have your ideology and I have mine!
Man that suxs ! that has and is currently happening here.
one range in Annapolis has to finish shooting at noon on Saturdays cause of restrictions they agreed to in a lawsuit settlement by some neighbors that built a house nearby, moved in and than sued over the noise.
the second one is currently happening in Pasadena where a developer bought land from the county built a nice golf course and associated golf course homes. People bought the homes and now are complaining about the noise and safety concerns. The range has been on the property for as long as i can remember. If you were concerned with the noise than why did you buy there?

People are bumb as hell. I have a freind who owns a cow farm that I goose hunt on. He has been there before clumbus set sail. A bunch of ny'ers moved in. It smells. They are trying to shut him down. There is a corn field thats a .5 mile by a .25 mile. He made a birm of cow plop 2 feet high on the house edge of the field. There aint a god dam thing they could do.
Its total uglyness. His attorny "Its obvious where the bullets are coming from" HMMMMMM Nothing has been said in the news papper about him have his own 200 yard range, trapfield on his property. I was once over there getting an elk for a game dinner at my club. He comes out wheeling a 300 win mag. Shoot the elk in the jaw. Retreats to his house comes back beer in hand with more shells shoot it again while there was a house in the back drop. Obvious my A**. Yea Obvious its not coming from us. This has gone into a lawsuit. Im woundering if there is anyone that can offer any info here. What kind of proof is needed if any? It seems like they are digging. They are turning over every rock. Ok Im saving the best for last. Pat was at a club in the same town he lives in was inside the club with a friend. They shot a bunch of holes in the roof of the club house with some guns.

A windonw was broken on a house. It happened memorial day weekend. The funny thing was it happened after they closed the 200 range down. There is no berm there. There is on the 100 yard. I can see it happening on the 200. Get r done. A .303 caliber was found on the floor. HMmm will a .303 make it a 1.5 and a half. They have said there was lead bullets found in the back yard. HMMMMMM what happens to a lead bullet as it goes threw the air at 1.5 miles. Ill try to get a few pics of the range and post them on here with some help.

Mr. Lyman ...
I've been watching these events unfold for several weeks with much dismay.
I have been shooting @ Blue Trail for 15 years (usually perched on the 200 yd line shooting something evil and black).
My wife took her NRA safety course with you and finally got her pistol permit thanks to your help.
I've spent untold $$$'s at the shop.
I just want to let you know that you have many supporters and we are all concerned about closing down one of the few public shooting ranges in CT. Rest assured I have been actively contacting like-minded sportsmen to save Blue Trail Range and will be sending other support your way.
God Bless (and tight lines).
