I have never posted many fishing reports, always been a lurker, but decided that this year I am going to share what happens good or bad, so here is the first trip report
After studying the temp charts and talking with friends that had fished on Friday with nothing down at the SWB, I decided to head toward the NE corner of the rock. The temp shot showed 70 on the corner going to 72 about the Pan Am. Left the dock 0500 with my dad and a couple of friends on board. What a beautiful morning and incredible sunrise! Put lines in on the corner at 7:15. Long story short we had one strike on a Braid Maurader swimming plug in tight on the transom and put a nice 50lb plus hoo in the box about 8:15. The other guys had the camera and I am still waiting for the pictures from them, so will add later.
Didn't hear of much else that went on and had planned to do some jigging, but my depth machine was not reading. Anyone with suggestions on a Furuno Navnet bottom machine not picking up the bottom or anything please let me know what to check. The machine is searching in auto, changing ranges, and in manual with the gain all the way up nothing either. No corrosion issues that I have found and the transducer is clicking like it always has (it is the shoot through the hull 1kw mounted in the box variety)
Awesome run home. Had to be home early so left the SW corner 1:15 and back in the inlet 2:30. The catching was not great, but it sure was great to be on the water for the first time this year!
