    Sat report

Left home at 4 a.m. Headed to the stream and out the inlet by 7:30. Lines in at 9.

Well it was not be for us this Sat. Not even a sniff. Tried everything. 4 Blue and crystal witches w/ flash on top. Blue and white ilander flasher chasing the small squid chain on the flat. Purple and black flasher down deep. Squidnation teasers, even tried two different color patterns. Put the spread tight to one another hoping for a cover up, then tried opening it up, then close to the boat, then far away from the boat, changed bait regularly etc etc trying to make something happen. Shagged grass immediately when it was spotted on the rigs. Tried 5 knots to 7 knots, turning on top of dropoffs and ledges. Nada.

Our day started out very hopeful as we worked our way out to the 100 fathom. Rip area and grass, looked very nice. Made the turn to the north and weaved in and out across the 100 from 500-600 feet of water into 200-250 feet all the way to the 675-700 line area. Nothing not even a knockdown. Well sometimes it happens like that. Sounds like most were picking some fish off. Ended up turning back down to the south and back and forth across the 100 fathom on the other side of the rip/grass this time all the way to 500 line.
At least we had the WSW breeze to our back side on the ride in called it a day around 2pm. 31 knots out and 26 knots on the ride home. At least we were able to get out in the small boat. Sure was a pretty day out there and sounded like everyone was enjoying it.
Got back home by 7pm and cleaned up and ate some bbq. Got everything cleaned up yesterday and re-rigged top to bottom for the next trip out. Cannot wait to have another go at it soon.

    Hey Brian,
    thanks for the report.
It was rather "strange" on Saturday. Fish were definitely spotty. Some boats found them and caught and some did not. One of the father - child tournament boats, the Energizer, had a great mahi catch that looked more like height of the season June, while most did not have any mahis. Another (Run Off) got covered up with YF once, with only a bite or two the rest of the day.
As you already said, it was a glorious weather day and everyone got a chance to see the deep blue and that's what matters most.

Thanks for the report Brian. Glad you had a pretty day on the water. We fished way up the beach on Saturday. Caught some Tuna's up that way. Down the beach the boats were catching the Mahi's pretty good. Sounds like you did everything that could be done to me. Like I said before, it happens to everyone sooner or later. Nothing you did wrong though, as I am sure you know that.

Fishing was not at its best this weekend.

Always seems that when its pretty out, the fish don't bite as well.

Cya Saturday, I promise you will get all you can handle on The RUN-OFF. I am looking forward to fishing with you again.

There is something worse than you are describing brian, that is not going at all.

Thanks for the support fellas. Frustrating was the word that stayed in my head on the ride in. Sounds like maybe we should have pushed a lil further North.

I feel your pain Brian. We had a couple of bad trips in a row and I was fit to be tied. Nothing you did wrong its about being in the right place at the right time and knowing what to do when you are there. But what a beautiful day to be on the water eh!
