Rough Sea's, Patience, Rewarded!!!!
What a way to start the day, fishing partner leaves the extra 24 soldiers in the cooler back in Pamlico Co.
This would pose a problem later in the day.New Fish Finder decides to die, .break out the backup. Myself and partner Phil were welcomed by some pretty nasty swells heading south, some had plenty of front porch but somebody stole the back steps
. Turning back was discussed, but.....Lucky for us something alot bigger came along mashed them down to ease the pain, Thanks Fight-N-Lady!!
Arrive near the Rise and deploy the troops, soon the first gaffer hits the fishbox. Pretty steady for us all day, missed a couple good planer bites and had a good fish on the WWB before pulling off. Soon the Electric Bill crowd arrives and the bite picks up. Had a very nice bull hit the prop wash bait and break us off, free jumped for 2 minutes thru the spread with the black and orange Sailure dangling behind him
. Oh Well.
With the hoos nearly gone out come the belly strips and we ice down several more nice bulls with them. The Electric Bill crowd had pity on us and dropped us a half dozen hoos which we managed to get the most out of, thanks Going Deep!!! Still looking for the first Hoo of the day we were finally rewarded with a massive strike on the WWB, drop back and the 50W screams out and it is on!!! 15min fight and I sink the steel in a pig hoo, official weight at EJW's 45lb. on the button. For all the troubles and such it was good to get a nice fish to close out the day. Picked up 1 more nice gaffer on the WWB before headin to MHC. Final count 14 Mahi, probally missed 8 -10 more, one fat HOO and 1 Stinky.
With a much better ride in we decide to check the R6 and R8 bouys for a cobia. Nothing at R6 but R8 did have some action around it, AJ's on top water poppers, Phil lands 2 biggn's. Before leaving we start seeing big fish start tearing into the menhaden balls, looked like very nice kings, 30-40lb. fish skying, saw 20 or so all over, pretty cool.
Had a heck of a day. plenty rough but we hung in there and managed to scratch together fish box full.

Foul-Hooked are you running a center rigger? If you are are you running 2 lines from it. I have a Sea Hunt 24 Gamefish and am looking for ways to increase my spread.

Awesome catch there Roger, we warned you to have plenty of bait rigged up for the hunt.
