Again, thanks for the input. This is one of the best forms on the net. I've owned a bunch of seeker,Calstar and the older Sabre rods when I worked Long Range out of San Diego. When I moved back east in 2005 after 23 yrs out west I bought a new boat and all new gear and went back into business here in NC. Now I'm just adding more new stuff. It seems to never end. I feel like a junkie with this stuff. Theres just two much to choose from. Ken

Swell Rider, If you would like to look at some of our custom 80 to 130 stand-up rods give us a call at Capt. Joe Shute's Bait & Tackle in Morehead City. We have some 5 1/2 ft. rods that work great with the Penn 70's, and both the Tiagre 50's and 80's. WE have been selling and using these rods for the last 8 years here in Morehead with great results. I do a lot of reel work here, and recently I have been dissapointed in a pair of Penn 70's. One of our local charter boat captains is a field tester for Penn and we have had to send His 70's back to Penn to be replaced after only 18 months. The cam is letting water through and the cam and drag lever is seizing up. I have had to tear the reels down three time this year and clean a huge amout of salt out of the cam and bearing. The salt has pitted the cam housing so bad the we have to send the reel back to Penn, I could not fix it with out replacing the whole right side housing. It might have just been those particular reels though!

    Capt. Joe
