Rigging bait
Ok forgive me ya'll but I still am a rookie at this but I have been doing some reading and all that but why is it that when you rig ballyhoo for instance what is the purpose of removing their eyes? I guess there is some importance to it but I can't figure it out! Can someone please enlighten me on this subject?
Thanks again,

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
While it's not an absolute neccessity to pop the eye balls it does serve a couple purposes.
1, as the bait is trolled the eyeballs will often bulge and and effect the way the bait swims.
2, It makes it cleaner and easier to rig since when rigged properly the monel is passed through the eyes several times and wrapped tightly.

Thanks
The way I have seen the hoos rigged is thru the nostrils and down around the mouth and then there is a small weight tied under the chin and then the string is tied on top of the head. Then the cross you made on top of the hoo is where you slide your circle hook in. I don't know there probably is a bazillion different ways to right natural bait.
Thanks again,

Master Baiter
removing the eyes
As previoously stated the big advantage is when you have 100 or so baits to rig and all of them you are going to wire up. There will be nothing in the eyesocket to slow you down when putting the wire through them. If you dont use monel to wire them I really dont see the big advantage if using good bait.
