22-250 is no problem Barnes X bullets in any flavor will be your friend here. It's all about the bullet x's deliver. No lead cored bullet should be used on big game in a .22 based cartridge.Alot of venision has been taken with a .223AI this I assure you.

Crazy for sure! My uncle had his arm broke a bunch of years back by grabbing the rack of buck he shot in the neck. Thing woke up, shook his head and caught his arm between two tines...snap.
I had a buck about 5 yrs ago I drilled through the neck with a 12ga slug at 12m. He rolled over, stretched out, and then collapsed. Thought Sweet, meat for the freezer! Nope, as I got close he popped up, about bowled me over and took off. Thought for sure I'd find him after a short track. Several hours and miles later, lost the trail. Nada. Still blows my mind. They are a tough creature for sure!!

Damn, hope your uncle ended up killin it. Yea they are some tuff animals..this other time i was hunting with my friend and again he was the shooter, shot him and dropped him. walked up to it with its shoulder just hangin by a thread and saw us walking up to it and went crazy crashed through a barb wired fence and we ended up having to cut its throat. It just rolled over the fence!! They are some beasts for sure.

I rushed a friends father to the hospital after a dead deer miraculously arose and punctured him through the chest and lung and arm and gouged a line right across his throat right over his interior jugular. He shot from about 200 yds hit right above the heart and it dropped instantly. Thinking he severed the arteries above the heart and punctured the lungs he walked back to his truck locked his rifle in and then went up to dress the deer. I saw him at the truck and offered to go and help him and he said "naw eat your lunch its an easy drag down the hill". I heard the scream about 5 minutes later an ran up the hill. I found him lying in the snow the deer was about 15 feet away. He had walked up on the deer laying there gave it a kick and it didnt move so he knelt down by its back reached over and grabbed the front leg to roll it up so he could gut it and apparently that was when the deer decided to try and run. It started thrashing about to stand up and that was when it stuck him. I ripped open his jacket and shirt I saw that the puncture was on the right side of his chest and could hear the sucking noise so I dragged him to the truck(didnt have a cell phone back them) covered the hole with duck tape and floored it for the hospital. Luckily all he ended up with is a couple of scars and an obsession to shoot every deer he downs in the head before he gets close. He says it just cant be dead enough. They are unbelievably tough critters just be careful out there there isnt always an ambulance or a hospital close by.

funny story about a deer my brother shot. He shot it with a 7mm had broke it down and went to cut its throat. He straddled the deers back and grabbed the rack to hold its head and when he did the deer stood up with my brother on its back. My brother was about 300lbs at the time and it was an eastern nc 130lbs whitetail. he keeps his 30-30 in his truck now to finish off animals now instead of his pocket knife.
