Finally alittle(very little) blood

Fished spreader bars for the first time here(another puerto rico first) and found tons of birds and only got two football yellowfins...It's getting better at least. I will figure this place out eventually.

How many bars? Did you try what we call a "canyon spread" with the bars?

I don't know what a canyon spread is. We dont use bars where I am from so I just kinda guessed when rigging and fishing them. I put out two bowling pin teasers on the corners and the bars about ten and twenty feet behind a small bird bubbler combo(what caught the fish) on the right rigger and a small jet head on the left rigger in tight just behind the bars. I started with that and just adjusted distance throughout the trip. I'll post a pic of the bars, let me know what you think...

Mike, I'm looking at yours bars. Hard to tell, are those 11" squids setup in a 2-3-5-3-2 pattern on 38" bars? What's on the stingers? How many rods can you run on the boat? Should I ask Carole if I can come down and help?

Please take this all with a grain of salt. Maybe it might spark some ideas. I'm guessing your bars may be too big given whatchagot down there. You may want to consider a narrow bar with only three chains so you can pull them a little faster. I'd say stick with the lures that work down there. All your doing is dropping a bar (teaser with a stinger) in front. The presentation looks like a school with a straggler running behind. An easy meal. Set the bars up on the short riggers and run your favorite lure of the day on the long riggers, behind the bars. They'll wiggle and zag back and forth behind the "school".

Run a bird to a lure in the shotgun, way back. We swap between marlin, tuna lures or both. Careful, don't use green machines. It's likely to send WAHOONBOX into orbit.

Will wait to hear whatchagot and how many lines you can run before filling in the rest. In the meantime maybe some of the other folks here have some ideas/insight.
