Thanks! Live in Florida and do most of my fishing out of Ponce inlet (daytona beach). Trolling is slow here until late Feb. Grouper and snapper bite has been hot to keep us busy until the mahi start to roll into town. Wahoo fishing is decent in St Augustine (jacksonville) area. Fish above was nearly a Fla state record caught on a live bait in 180ft.

Thanks for the comeback captain. We love bottom fishing pictures and stories. Post 'em up!

What's the word with red snapper status down your way?"
Jared D from Jacksonville reports ridiculous good red snapper fishing the past few years and our NC fishery for them is showing signs of life after more than 10 years of relative "extinction"

How about the groupers in general?" Better or worse than years past?

    Cheers,

The snapper and grouper bite has been super hot. No problem catching our limit of grouper nearly every trip. We typically catch more greys/black belly and scamps. Warsaw and Red grouper are also common, and of course we pile in our jacks with ease before heading home. IMO and many others here, the grouper bite has been its best in at least 5 years.
