After getting my boat back in the water, I damaged my props 10 days ago fishing the Manhattan Cup and hitting a log in the Hudson River (AKA Lumber alley)
We went out Thurs afternoon to try our luck at some livelining. A friend had just netted some bunker in the creek and was nice enough to give us some to save us some time THANKS DAN!
We ran out to the Staten Island side of the Bay and made a couple of drifts with nothing to show for it except for a couple of strikes from bluefish that bit just short of the hook. A friend was fishing close by and had a couple of bass.
A group of nasty ass thunderstorms were making their way into the area (XM weather rocks) so we ran for the barn with the skunk on board with us.
Back at the dock there were bunker all over the marina so we netted some more for Fridays trip.
We left the dock Fri morning and netted some more bunker for the livewell. We anchored up, started chumming, and within 10 min we were into the fish pretty good. We had some nice action for the rest of the incoming tide. As the tide slowed so did the fishing. We waited thru the tide change with an occasional bluefish to keep our attention.
As soon as the tide started to run the fishing picked up and we were back into them. That is until some ass clown had to anchor up right next to us and shut the whole thing down. We pulled the anchor and ran over to where we were the night before to liveline but we had the same results.
All in all it was a good day with good friends.
We did catch one bass that had the sour beer face. Our biggest one of the day was 43”
Here are some pictures
