I still do that exact same kind of fishing from time to time.

#3 27 lb or #4 32 lb is perfect just like you said.

Tie in a shot of flouro to your mainline about 12-15 feet. Then find some 50lb spro POWER SWIVELS. They are freakintiny. Haywire the wire live bait rig to the swivel. Then tie in the swivel to the flour. One my spanish/king rigs below. You can also albright knot the flouro to the wire.

This is of course for live bait.

As leader shy as spanish can be, I'd stick with the #3, either like Brad said w/ a 50lb. spro, or no swivel at all. If you're still not getting bit, try using no wire at all. You may have a few cut offs, but if the spanish are there, you should get bit. Pulling clarkspoons for spanish, I use no wire. For king mackerel, for schoolie size fish, up to around 15 lbs, 40 lb sevenstrand works great, but if there are bigger kings around, I use #4 single strand. The problem with 7 strand on larger kings, I believe, is that it gets caught in between there teeth and they shear it off just like scissors. One question, where are you fishing out of?

Im just north of you out of Wrightsville Beach Capt Lyndon

BTH has the exact rigs i been tying but that albright is always the weakest link especially if you use #3 wire and a smaller fluoro leader in front of it.

I suppose im gona stick to my single wire, ill give you a call when i get minute Lee and tighten up my albright skills

    thanks guys

Definitely get more action with bright wire vs. Coffe colored Singlestrand. If you prefer you can take a scotch brite pad to regular AFW Coffee wire to remove the coloring.

I prefer aircraft cable for heavy stuff like wahoo bombs and other heavy meatless Lures
I wish the Tackle dealers (ALL TACKLE) would pay attention. I never see bright wire in any of the stores in OC.
