Question for you North Carolina Coast guys

In April I will be a certified Guidance Counselor, the main reason I went into education was so i could have my summers off. I live in South Jersey and stay around Cape May in the summer. Since I was a little kid my Family was always taking me to the Outer Banks for vacation. Like everyone else i fell in lone with the place. I have a Capt. license and in the summers I run a boat and work on a few more. I'm looking for school counseling jobs in North Carolina. I know in OBX it will be difficult to get a job on the Island. Can anyone give me some insight on this matter? Im looking for a nice district on the coast. I have also been to Wilmington once, and it was really nice but Im trying to get away from that 60+mile run for the game fish. Any help would be great!

Box, I know you would have some insight

Unless you live in Hatterss, you are going to have a 40 to 60 mile run. Morehead is a good compromise with a few schools...

As Capt. Lee says, Morehead is a pretty good compromise - big enough to have a few schools, and about a 40 mile run to the Gulfstream.

We've not seen many YFT the last year or so, but the wahoo and mahi have been pretty good, and the billfishing was red hot this spring with 7 or 8 blues over 500 lbs (in tournaments)

Not to mention the BFT fishery Nov - Jan

Yeah thanks for the info guys. Our YFT season has been the same and the wahoo are now starting to come in. I'll check Morehead City out, as for Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hattress. do they all go to the same school district or are they split up? I guess Nags Head would be another suggestion, but I really do enjoy the south much more!

There's a position open in Wilson, which is not far to the OBX. Pays fairly good, but is only open until 9/30 so if your interested you better get on the stick. www.ncdhhs.gov/ Click Employees and local agencies then click job seekers then jobs available.
This could get your foot in the door for a closer position on the beach.
Good luck.. Jobs are hard to come by here!!!
