What kind of area are you looking to move to? I know the area where I live is always looking for people to work in the school system however it is a very rural community. They currently have a guidance counselor but she commutes from manteo days which is about an hour drive. I am about 50 miles from the gulf stream here. But about 25 of those miles is inthe pamlico sound. However during the summer months the pamlico sound has some of the best big red drum fishing around. We also get some tarpon mixed in as well. If you want any more info on the area just let me know. I live in Hyde County and you may want to look into the Mattamuskeet school. As I said though this is an extremely rural area.

The bass are starting to make a comeback after a long dry spell. but everything else is still here. I bet you couldn't get ponytail to move out here. I bet the deer population is 10 fold the people population here.

    Irish,

Dare County is the school district for the Outerbanks.

That covers the schools in Kitty Hawk, the most northern end which has an elementary school. Kill Devil Hills or KDH which has an elementary, middle and high school, Nagshead which has an elementary school. Manteo, which is on Roanoke island
and has an elementary, middle and high school.

On the southern end you have Hatteras which has all three.

There is also the Currituck county school system which is just over the bridge west of the OBX on highway 158, schools are about 30 miles from the beach.

    Good luck,
    Troy

Troy thanks for the help any idea what the website for these school districts are? If not I will do some hoemwork on it. I remember seeing many schools on our trips down to Hatteres (although it has been a few years). It would be a dream come true to make this work and I really appricate the info you guys have provided!!! A few things stick out in my mind about vacationing in Hatteres the fishing and the southern hospitality/kindness.

    JUST CURIOUS...

ON THE HIWAY THAT SPLITS THE LAKE (CAUSEWAY)...THERE IS A SMALL TACKLE STORE ON THE RIGHT SIDE (NORTH BOUND SIDE I GUESS)

YOU THEN GO JUST A SHORT PIECE (1/4 MILE MAYBE) PAST THE TACKLE SHOP AND THERE IS A FOOT BRIDGE OVER A CANAL ON THE LEFT....

I WAS WONDERING IF THE AREA JUST PAST THE CANAL(EAST) HAS WATER IN IT???.....THERE USED TO BE A COOL SHALLOW POND THERE ..3 ACRES MAYBE...FULL OF LILLY PADS AND BASS .....A TOPWATER SOFT PLASTIC MOUSE (WHITE) WAS BAD TO DA BONE THERE....

I WOULD THROW THE MOUSE ONTO THE LILLY PADS AND THE BASS WOULD THEN BANG THE PAD, KNOCKING THE MOUSE OFF THEN GRABBING IT!

THEY WERE 1-2 LBERS BUT PLENTY OF THEM

I NEED TO GO BACK NEXT SPRING FOR SOME MORE!

I doubt that has any water in it now. the lake is extremely low. There is less water in it this year than there was last year at this time. We have caught a bunch of bass in that place you are talking about in the past. We use to put a small aluminum boat in there and just slay them. There were some bigger fish towards the back of it.
