Thank you for the support, guys. We call Bob "Quiet Bob" because he is a low key, good guy who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it - you wouldn't even have to ask for it; he's that special kind of man who would just take it off and hand it to you or even just leave it where you could find it (yeah, I know, more tears for you, HD). I have never seen him lose it and get as upset as he was yesterday and that really pisses me off and I'm not shy about going after those who choose to bash him here.

First, Hummerdude, you are new here. Bob and I are not. This isn't the kind of site where bashing people around is tolerated, especially by some newbie who hasn't contributed a thing to what goes on here yet and who keeps throwing up third person comments as cold, hard fact.

(Pardon me for a sec, Box. I need to borrow your yeller.) SECOND, IF YOU DON'T THINK THAT OFFERING TO GET ROUSTED OUT OF BED AT FOUR O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING AND COMING DOWN TO A LAUNCH RAMP TO DELIVER SOMETHING THAT A CUSTOMER ORDERED AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT, AND ON TOP OF THAT, SOMETHING THAT REGULARLY REQUIRES LEAD TIME, AND ON TOP OF THAT, EXTENDING THE SALE PRICES AFTER THE SALE WAS OVER TO BILLY, THE CUSTOMER, AND TO NOT ONLY DELIVER THE PRODUCT, BUT TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW TO USE IT NOT GOOD, BUT GREAT SERVICE, WELL, OUT OF RESPECT FOR THIS SITE, I WON'T SAY WHAT I THINK A PERSON LIKE THAT IS. BESIDES, IT SHOULD BE EASY, EVEN FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU, TO FIGURE OUT.

If things went to hell on a hobby horse after that, it surely wasn't intentional on Bob's or Billy's part. Shxt happens.

(Thank you, Box. Here's your yeller back.) .

And by-the-way, Bob's girlfriend Chris works for us and both she and Bob were delivering bars to others who waited until the sale was almost over to order theirs. If there was any mention to Billy about "a girlfriend", that is what it was about.

Jewfish I can't speak for John, but I would say that what he wrote was very much directed at you too. You too are a newbie here and you started out with the remark, "If these things are so good, why are you lowering the price?" Maybe that was an honest question, but I don't think so and neither did John. At the very least, it was an ill-timed one.

Simply by looking back a little you would have seen that we weren't lowering our price because we had to...far from it. And we weren't "lowering the price". We were offering pure, very temporary wholesale pricing on some hot, new products to the membership as a "Thank You" for the way that we have been treated here for a very long time. Unusual for a manufacturer, yes, but it's what we do.

If you hang around here long enough you will probably come to realize what a unique and special place this is. Just as it is with our regular customers, once or twice a year we run very special appreciation sales for a small and exclusive group of people and this site is always at the top of the list. And when we run one of these, we don't screw around - it is one helluva deal truly meant to say, "Thanks". Too bad you missed it.

Hey, TS (Tom was and maybe is one of the biggest tackle buyers in the country and one helluva (especially) marlin fisherman to boot. One of the inner circle, I know he's another old codger and I'm pretty sure he has some of the tackle reps following his beautiful "Dreamer" around, attaching marlin to his lures and pulling on the line. Kinda cheatin', but hey, this guy has the clout!)

JW. Yeah, you bettah have come heah and sed somethin'. You stahted this! Great to hear that Trace got a growed up blue one! Lure or bait fish? Hope he and BC won it. Please pass my congrats on to him and good luck on the rest of the run. Oh, and what kind of chair was he in (har, har!)

Give Minnie a kiss for me...and I mean it!

Pecos...Rios of Mercedes? And remember what I said about them snakes! And if there are any around and you don't want the AJ's, don't go trolling you know what's close to them rigs!

Flatbottom...Cool Hand Luke! Thanks for the cool head and your efforts to maintain the peace. Best thing about this site is that there are more of your kind here. Long live SFC!

Jer...I hope you don't delete this one. Serves as a good example of what happens when new people come aboard and start knuckling up longstanding members.

Im not hear to bash anyone! Lets get that straight!

The night before Bob was callled that we were not going to be at the Docks at 4AM! So lets get that out in the open! We talked to Bob that morning and he was having breakfast and said he will be at the dock at 7:30 AM, we where their at 7AM and waited till 9:30AM we tried to get of the hold of him but no answer!

Fred, I'm sure these bars are fish catchers! Am not here to bash your runner but, if he said he will be there, he should be there! This reflects on your product and your business!

I know im a newbe here, but not in this industry. I'm successfull cause I keep my word and my appointments, if not I make it better for the customer, Period!

I still want to buy these Bars! PM me to where to send my Money !

    Armando,

I am all for peace, but I have seen Bob bend over backwards for people far too many times to let anything slide when it comes to him. So before we move forward, and I surely hope that we can, let me say comment on a couple of things.

I never implied or stated that Bob was called to place an order with him at any other time than "the day before". Certainly no one would be calling him before 4 amen and neither of us said so. From what I understand, Billy's schedule was changed a couple of times, once cancelling altogether and then on again when you decided to go with him. No matter what, nothing changes the facts that an order was placed the day before, when there was no way that normal shipping would have gotten Billy his products unless Bob were willing to deliver the bars in the early morning. Since Billy was driving in from Diamond Bar (a pretty good haul) and some other factors, like traffic when he did come, he wasn't sure when he would get to the ramp. Bob solved that one by saying, "call me when you're an hour out", which seemed like it would be about 4 "and I will meet you at the launch ramp with your bars and answer any questions you might have about running them."

I think we should stop right there and think about what Bob was trying to do and then think about how many others would even consider something like that. His intentions went far beyond what most would consider doing, and that is pure Bob. He does that sort of stuff all of the time and not only that, his girlfriend Chris hand delivers product to customers who are in a time bind all of the time too. We don't charge for this and if it is within our power (Bob is the second on Amigo out of Newport, so when he's fishing he can't do this kind of stuff. Even there, he frequently goes overboard to try to help people. In fact, just recently he took a set of bars with him on Amigo to try to deliver them to a customer at the Cortez Bank (that's a hundred miles or so offshore, folks!) and as might be expected, that one got screwed up too, but not for lack of trying his best.

I am not being difficult here, but neither do I want anyone getting the wrong idea about how hard we go to bat for our customers. These screw-ups don't happen if we are nice and polite and simply say, "I'm sorry, but UPS has already picked up today, so there is no way short of having a personal delivery service pick up and deliver your stuff and that would cost you a small fortune. And besides, our due to an overwhelming response to our "Thank You" offer, bar lead time is a couple of weeks. Sorry about that."

I don't buy into you or Billy "talking to" Bob at 7:30 "while he was having breakfast". He says Billy left a message on his machine that he saw when he came back from delivering bars to some other fishermen. This included one who met him at Hennessy's, which is two or three minutes from the launch ramp. First, I believe Bob when he says he didn't know that you were there and second, it is completely illogical that he wouldn't drop Billy's bars off if he knew that you were there. And just so everything is clear, it was Billy who did all of the calling, not you, right?

It's a damned shame that things got turned into a clusterduck that morning, but things like cell phone signals not picking up (I am the only one here who doesn't have one and won't) and stuff like that happen.

I'm sorry you guys had to wait around. I hate that kind of thing myself, so I know where you're coming from. Sorry for all that the end came down like it did.

I thought I was the only one who did carry a cell phone. I hate phones. I never answer one for fear there might be someone on the other end.

Capt Fred, I love your bars. I never tuna fish without at least two of them in my spread. They have saved many a slow day here in the midatlantic.

    Jared,

We don't have a website yet. Why is a long story that I don't want to get into because it is very frustrating.

You can get our e-catalogs by emailing RNRBOB@COX.NET or by calling him at 949 493 6440. The rascal is down in Mex testing some new stuff right now and will be back next Tuesday, so if you mail or call now, please leave a message and he'll get back to you, maybe with some exciting fish stories.

    Thank you for the interest.
